Here's a New York Times article from 1884 demanding the right of men to escape the oppression of trousers and wear skirts instead. 125 years ago. Plus ça change ...

Well, kinda hard to believe that was written in 1884. However, it is certainly interesting.

It's hard to say without context, but my guess is it was done as satire of the women's rights movement.

I've never had any problems with Adobe Reader or PDF files. (Always keeping up with the latest updates to the Reader, and updated antivirus software, of course). PDF is pretty much universal now, and you miss a lot without it. I think there's very little risk with it.

Skip,

Adobe Software is a well known product. They do everything possible
to keep virus' out of their systems. Adobe has been no problem for me.
I use it almost every day. A PDF file is one of the easiest ways to
send documents/drawings/newsletters.

You'll have no problems downloading the software, especially when it
is downloaded from their site. Some of the 'mirror' sites may have
problems, that's why I don't use them.

I must say that I agree with the idea that this was written in the spirit of satire. Never the less it makes some good points although some are surely tounge in check. I heard once that what is comedy now becomes true later in many cases. Not to say of course that men in skirts are comedic in any fashion, but often times the things people think are ridiculous now will become mainstream down the road. We are all fighting for that cause of course.

I have to admit that as difficult as it is to do something considered so very taboo by many in society it is also quite fun to be living in a time (and place to be sure) where the ability to challenge conventions (that are so arbitrary as fashion) can be done freely.

Technical facts are facts and don't change with time, as we see. Only opinions change.
