Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

No, it isn't.
different body (obviously)
different engines,
different chassis, entailed by
MINI is front-drive, the BMW 1 series is rear-drive,
different construction.
Morgan, I think is the 3rd largest UK based and owned manufacturer.
The largest is the company that makes London black cabs
I think Caterham is the 2nd largest now
and now we go into the really small/exclusive stuff.
Westfield,
Bristol,
Melling (recent start)
Ginetta (doing well)
plus a variety of other kit cars etc.
However, Most of the formula 1 grid cars are still engineered and built in the UK, and a proportion of NASCARS, unbelievably.
The expertise exists still - it just needs to be used.

Happy to be corrected (it's far too small for me ever to look seriously at either model). Interestingly the person who described it to me as such sells minis for a living... may be not for much longer
Have fun,
Ian.
Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Now that this thread is so totally corrupted, I'll add my 2 bob's worth. I had a 1928 Essex tourer, which i restored from the ground up. A sidevalve 6 of abt. 2.8 litres capacity. Whilst an adequate performer, it was not really capable of much tweaking. Later engines, before it became the Hudson Terraplane, were goers and the British Railton Special was powered by same engines. A bit of early transatlantic cross pollinisation. Stop swearing Skip, this is fun
