Maybe the reason there’s so few posts is the limitations placed upon discussionsI come online here up to3 times a day just to see what's going on, but hardly post as you can only talk (post) so much about a kilt/skirt

I don't think 8 or 10 new posts a day is a "few". People have lives, everyone can't stop by every day. We're not ALL retired or wealthy. I know the SkirtCafe has over 600 members but, how many of them are active? Maybe 60 to 100, and I think that's more than there really are. If there's as much as 10 a day, that's 10% of the active total..I think that's pretty good.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Musings on "Steampunk"
I think I'm doomed.
I've already spent more time than is properly healthy perusing the "Brass Goggles" forum, and have become more smitten than is right. If it wasn't for the threads on fantastic (as in fantasy) weaponry and a positively massive one on pocket-watches (which I adore and have several, some of familial historic significance) I might have shrugged my considerable (lest they be called "less than manly") shoulders and shuffled off into the darkness. But, alas, that was not to be; it turns out that I am "steampunk resonant" as Lady Inertia managed to divine. I am hoping to recover from this, because my budget cannot take the added strain. Perhaps if I go and lie down for a bit....
Skirted context: I still want a black floor-length skirt. I believe it would go really well with my red (and likely dark blue) waistcoat (with pocket-watch and chain) and a puffy-sleeved shirt. An alien-looking sidearm is optional. I've found a source for the former (although not as elaborate as I'd like); I'll have to create the latter (I have parts).
So many options, so little time. No wonder women say they have "nothing to wear" despite closetfuls of clothing -- the range of options is too mind-boggling to get one's head 'round!
Yes. I think I'll lie down now.

Oh, yes, good Sir, you are doomed, indeed. Join the club. This confounded subculture resonates more with me than I'll ever have either time or budget for; and yet I find it impossible to simply walk away from it, particularly since it is attended by a group of people who, even when they are heatedly disagreeing, behave in at least as civilized and well-behaved a fashion as the honoured members of this forum. Not to mention the fact that they all understand about things like tea, and pocket-watches (my father and grandfather were watchmakers), and dirigibles (the most impressive and downright cool aircraft *evar*), and -- good heavens! -- making things one's self; and of course, historical costuming (and when to care whether it's historically accurate, and when to just adapt the bits you like and ignore the bits you don't, and when to have amiable squabbles over it like fanatics).
Speaking of such related matters... a black floor-length skirt would look fantastic with any of your stated shirt and waistcoat combinations. If you could manage a cloak into the bargain, for special occasions... goodness me! (Grins, and raises teacup in your direction)
Cheers,
Jill

When you have a product that people want, they come. Be happy, you have nearly 3 times as many as I do. I'm happy tho, I have a very friendly happy crew. Every few days another person interested in what I have appears. It's a fun thing for me and my friends

Wow! Looking at Carl's post above, it's hard to believe all the things that a person can get interested in. I have to say, that's a bunch of neat stuff. I'm into stuff. I'm a builder, too, but not as good as that.
As for discussion, I've done a lot and do, but have been quiet here because of access. That is changing somewhat, so be careful what you wish for... I've been busy lately rebuilding computers for friends and teaching how to use special software. Sometimes, that can be a job.
