Diabetes
Re: Diabetes
Hi Uncle Al,
So sorry to hear that. Habits are so hard to break. Everyone seems to have their own approach to changing habits.
Well, bad news yesterday for me and I Have been being careful since the hospital incident. I've been testing and my glucose numbers have come down, but not enough, and my A1C was 9.8, so the doc put me on an extra Metformin per day and wants to start me on insulin. Well that was cool, but she forgot to prescribe the needles that go with the pen. grrrr
My blood pressure was also out of control at 180/100, so she doubled my lisinopril and added metoprolol.
Would Deb be interested in corresponding with me and swapping recipes and meal plans? If she tinks it would be of help, let me know.

Re: Diabetes
Al,
How is Deb doing? Have you managed to get her back on the straight and narrow?

Have fun,
Ian.

Ziggy, I think you may be injecting in the wrong place...ziggy_encaoua wrote:I too am diabetic & its a real pain in the butt

Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Re: Diabetes
Maybe you need to upgrade your equipment. I'm using a Breeze2 by Bayer: no coding, load 10 strips at a time, get results in 5 seconds. The lancet is extremely fine and almost painless. I've been prescribed an insulin pen and the 31 guage needle is so fine, you really need to pay attention to feel it.Ziggy wrote:

Good luck

Re: Diabetes
Well, Deb had her Dr's visit and was instructed on how
to use the 'Hot-Shot' insulin injection. She still has the
Lantus time-release insulin pen. 31Ga. needles and
Sapphire is right--Deb says she really can't feel the
injection. She was give the One-Touch system to used.
Now, we have 2 systems, and I carry one with me at
all times.
The real joker is--her sugar goes up, and up, and up....
Mine goes down, down, down. We have to keep tabs
on each other. While we were shopping at Krogers, I've
had to get a small bottle of O.J., sit down and drink it to
bring my levels up to the norm. When my hands start
to swell up, I get a bit dizzy (more than normal-HAH)
I check my sugar. Usually it's down, so I eat/drink
something to bring it up.
Now, if I can only get us 'both' up-off our duff's and
just start walking, exercize is one of the best ways
to get the weight off, and lower the effects of Diabetes.
Bye for now
