Runway Menswear 2009

Post by cessna152towser »

Nice little photo set which someone has put together showing runway fashions for men for Autumn 2008 and Spring 2009 from a variety of designers.
Note that most of the designs involve some form of skirted garment. Although some of these skirts are intended to be worn outside of trousers this could be a first step for many guys who might then turn in warmer weather to the sarong and male skirt styles shown towards the end of the set.

That is quite a variety of looks. Great to see designers experimenting with skirts for men and in time less flashy styles will trickle down to the mass market. Well, in lots of time. 8)

Oh neat, I see Flickr has a "Men in Skirts and Kilts" photo pool those pictures are in. http://www.flickr.com/groups/meninskirts/pool/ And it looks like we know a contributor too. :D

Skirt chaser, flashy is just too kindly a description. I thought they looked ludicrous and my S.O. threatened to leave me for a "real" man if I dared to wear anything like what was depicted- I tend to agree! Those getups would sink our cause as well as the iceberg sank the Titanic

I saw maybe two credible outfits in that whole line-up. The rest were just plain silly. No way you'll ever see a man on the street in something like that. I wonder what the designer could be thinking...surely someone who could come up with that stuff could come up with some impressive male skirted fashions that aren't totally absurd.

That's just it.....They are trying to make a name for themselves.
If they were to design a decent male skirt, they would not have
as much runway impact. With their absurd ideas on fashion, then
they get talked about.

If they get talked about enough, they may refine their designs
for the more 'conservative' male populace.

Just my 4 cents worth :D

Fully agree with you. What you see on runways, you never see in everyday wear.

A couple of these were ok. The rest were good examples of crap. No other term. The so called leggings for men looked like dreck. They were not sleek, they were bunched up to the knee, and overall looked stupid.

The pants with skirts look just has NEVER worked for me. I get a little irritated when I see women doing this, especially when in jeans. What is the point?

The male models also look miserable. Why do the male models always look like such depressed idiots. Why don't they find a guy or guys that can make the look look viable? Why are men constantly depicted with scowls, and horrible posture?
