I took the chicken's route. I packed up, loaded the van and ran away! Took a 2 day vacation to a hotel/casino about 150 miles away that is built like a Norad Presidential bomb shelter. Lots of generators etc. takes a cat 6 hurricane with 200 mph winds to make that hotel vibrate. And then only a slight vibration. Paid $200 for the room, played poker for a day and a half, won $275, paid the hotel, pocketed my $75 profit, gassed the van, and came home this morning. House was OK, but the electric had been off 30 hours, which is why I left in the first place. I can't live without Air Conditioning. I left to come home as soon as a friend here phoned me with the news the electric was back on. So I did my usual thing in time of uncertainty, I went BUK BUK BUK Cockadoodledooooooooo!!!!

Skip,
Glad to hear you're safe. Hope you didn't have much to
clean out of the fridge. Congrat's on the winnings!
It paid for your trip!

Re: Something I had to get away from....
I get a vacation to the Miccosukie Hotel and Casino about once every 2 to 4 years. About that often TS or Hurricanes threaten where I live. Last one was Hurricane Wilma in 2004, it flooded my street and the water came all the way up to the top of my steps but not inside. Killed my central A/C and all the ducting under the house. No problem, didn't like the bills with Central A/C in a mobile home anyway, about $400 mo. Replaced them with window units which use about $15 a month each and keep it cooler in my main rooms and I don't use the extraneous rooms anyway so I keep them shut.
I like the Miccosukie Hotel, they have a 12 foot high concrete Miccosukie warrior in front of the hotel wearing traditional Miccosukie clothing, a man's outfit is a long sleeved top with a zigzag pattern and a mid calf zigzagged skirt on the bottom. So they don't mind someone like me at all.

You had a plan to give yourself the comfort you wanted and rode out the storm in style. Well done!
