I doubt it. The impression I get is that just a few jokes got made about my gaffe earlier. OK, so the jokes were a bit tasteless, but I've seen light be made about vastly more horrid things. It helps people deal with unspeakable things at times.
Do you not agree that some guys really give a horrible image when sitting this their legs spread WIDE apart?
In some settingings, absolutely; in others the pose can be seen as open and approachable (think of a guy sitting backwards in a chair telling a story and leaning towards his audience). It cuts both ways. Certainly the Al Bundy (See, I got it right that time!) slouch-on-the-couch look is rather ghastly, and communicates much about the chap's character, but is a stereotypical "guy thing". It certainly would NOT work with a skirt.

I believe you may be partly correct with your comment, but just what does it have to do with skirts?

Well, No, actually! It is the most natural posture, after all. Possibly in-advisible if one's wearing either a short, tightish skirt or shortish shorts, either sans underwear, but 'horrible image'? Sorry, I cannot get my head round such an interpretation. :?

Please enlighten us Europeans. What in blazes is a "Ted (or Al) Bundy"?

Merlin, "Ted Bundy" was a very nasty character that was put to death in Florida's "Old Sparky" in 1992 for clubbing to death 30 or more college girls all across the United States. He "might" have gotten life in prison if he'd not decided to act as his own attorney and show the jury how ruthless and heartless he really was. Light giggling by him when discussing the actual murders didn't get him many goody points with the jury and they gave him the chair instead of life in jail.

"Old Sparky" which is no longer used anywhere in the USA was the "Electric Chair". All states have gone to either lethal injection or gas. Both methods use sodium chloride in either liquid or gas form as the killing substance.

"Al Bundy" is a character in an American "Soap Opera" on TV. A soap opera is a continuing weekly tear jerker with the same characters acting the same roles every week.

Pythos, for anything you have to say about what I say in my posts, please read what is at the bottom of all my posts about "opinions", I have mine, you have yours and you're welcome to yours just as much as I'm welcome to mine. Here in the United States we frown on anyone trying to control what we think or say.

Merlin, Al Bundy stars in a soap "married with children". so depending on what the English programming offers, you may have been able to see it. It is very hilarious, and of course shows life with a spot of humor, just in the same way as "The simpsons". My opinion.

I would also state, that we should watch how women sit. Without staring.
As long as any unwanted vieuws are prevented, we are men, and should be able to sit RESPECTFULLY, but slightly wide legged, although I do think, besides very manly outfits, kilts, that sitting legs crossed or neatly together is good ettiket, is a fine way to sit with a skirt on. Wearing skirts can or may require some refinement and extra attention to our manners. I find ( having to be ) that being more refined is an extra plus point with wearing skirts. It is so easy to be a rough and go man, it takes some work on our part to be somewhat refined in our ways, but is very rewarding.

As for adjusting our .... well, actuall that is a very natural occurance, and I think that if doen with tact, and "neatly" should become something which is accepted as being a needed thing to be done, and in public. But if at all possible, any handling of any genetal area should be done in private. Thus not making any suggestion whichever way to others. Just as women will from time to time adjust their breasts if they do not sit quite right in their bras. In an Ideal situation there is always a apart place to do those things, but if you are on the street, ( no where to go to private,) then a (needed   :?  ) quick adjustment is the only thing left to do. It is not only the shortcommings of pants, but also of any constricting underwear, which the classical true kilt wearer has no problem with at all.

As most of us do wear underpants, of some form, there is always a moment that requires some adjustment, and hope that it is when a private lokation is available. But I for one wil not and Cannot go on walking, whatever if my things are somehow unpleasantly placed or even clamped uncomfortly.

it is all about how we normally act, behave, not what we do in "emergency situations". other people should also react appropriately, giving men the chance to do a very needed adjust in public, as long as it is just that.

A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.
