Nightshirts?
Nightshirts?
Hi,
I would have thought that once one gets to sleep, short arms or long arms is irrelevant. When in a hole, stop digging--which can apply to most of this site. If you want to wear a skirt/ kilt( same thing)- wear it. And don't give a monkeys toss for anyone who objects. We are only here once, so enjoy what you want while we are here.

Men's nihgtshirt
I wonder. What can you wear women's clothing?
I would never put on anything female!
I see, more and more men prefer sleeping in the nightshirt. I sleep in the nightshirt too. Of course, in the men's nightshirts. My interest to the nightshirts is so great that I decided to create websites about the nightshirts.
Link is http://www.nocni-kosile.ic.cz/indexen.htm. I hope, there is written everything about men's nightshirts.
When I was creating websites I found out the offer of men's nightshirts in the middle and west Europe is larger than in the rest of world. For example, you can look the best Czech shop web http://www.spodnipradlodarka.cz/panske-nocni-kosile. There it is possible to buy more than forty
sorts of men's nightshirts. In opposite, in the USA I found no more than two men's nightshirts in one Internet shop. Maybe the offer men's nightshirts are larger in China or Japan but I know neither Chinese nor Japanese.

Hi, Donald,
I fully support you! I also wear satin nightgowns with some femilinity in design. All my 8 sets in different colors are made by Version Ltd, a local Bulgarian lingerie company, making mainly satin items. I simply take photos of designs of famous American and European makes, such as Miss Elaine, Velrose, Christian Dior, Olga, etc from Internet and send these pics and my measurements to them. And Version perfectly reproduce the design of nightgowns and robes. All my nightgowns and robes are mainly in Victorian style, which, in fact, historically, was unisex- In mid 19th century both men and women wore similar designs of nightgowns. Say, like this one the attached pic.
I prefer all my nightgowns to be floor-length. As I am 189 cm tall (6'4") all they are ordered 165 cm shoulder to hem.
Unfortunately Version Ltd currently don't have their website - they sell through other Bulgarian online shops, but if you are interested in ordering a custom-tailored nightgown and robe set for a very affordable price of about EUR 45-55 you can write Marianna (the owner) at info@versiontouch.com
Best regards

All my nightgowns I wear are satin. I feel that satin is more comfy for sleeping as it is cooler in summer and warmer in winter. For those nights when I wake up sweaty, the cotton gowns are far more damp than a satin gown. But the satin dries out faster. Another plus to satin is that in the winter, my skin gets rather dry and itchy. Cotton or flannel will make me quite uncomfy even if I use lotion beforehand. It is just too scratchy on my skin. Satin is much better in itchy dry skin, especially if the gown has a "flocking" on the inside. Lastly, if one tosses and turns a lot, satin does slide easier. I had a men's flannel nightshirt and it was rather uncomfortable at times.

Re: Nightshirts?
Yassen, I like the design. Myself, I would prefer a pastel blue, bright blue, or black myself. In fact, my most recent gown, a 2pc peignoir set, is in black. I posted it in the What Are We Wearing As We Post thread, but here it is again.

This gown is 132cm/52in long and it is right down to my ankles and on my 180cm/5ft,11in body, it is the perfect length for me. It is 2" longer than the next longest gown I own. When sitting down, I have to be a bit careful not to step on it!
All my other gowns often end up above my knees when I wake up in the morning. Surprisingly, this gown has yet to do that. And it is very VERY comfortable for sleeping.
Now when I sleep, I do not wear the outer peignoir because it is quite delicate. Plus I do not want it to bunch up as I do toss and turn a lot. But for lounging in the morning, or after showering at the end of a long day at work, the set is so nice in that regard. If it is hot out and your home does not have air conditioning, then having the peignoir on may get a bit too warm. But other than that, it is a great gown to sleep in as well as relax in and wear around the house. As a matter of fact, I liked the peignoir set so much that I submitted a customer review of the item on the Roaman's website praising it as a top flight gown!

Re: Nightshirts?
Donald, and Ashtree, very femme, but I do love them! I think they are very nice. And why shouldn't men also enjoy fine night wear? There may be one problem with very fine materials, as I shave, nearly all of my body, especially my chest hair and also my arm hairs get stubby very fast. That is very obvious when wearing some soorts of fine clothing, the material gets hung up on the short but hard hair stubs.I was fitting a long arm T shirt I think made from Viscose, it was very supple, but it got hung up on my hair stubs. And if I don't shave, Blugh

so much body hair. Couldn't wear the fine ( women's) clothing I enjoy wearing now. Maybe the same would happen with some night gowns, although I also wear under skirts, with dresses, and they don't hang up much, at least if I shave regularly. Damned heavy body covering hair!!

A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.

The nightgowns are comfy and warm. I do see one problem for a man who tries one: the long sleeves will probably be too short for a man. Men tend to have longer arms than women.

Re: Nightshirts?
Thanks, Peter! With my gowns, I have always chosen femme styles because they are simply more comfy! And this one would probably not be a problem for you. The gown is nylon and the inside is very smooth so I doubt it would get hung up on your stubble.Peter v wrote:Donald, and Ashtree, very femme, but I do love them! I think they are very nice. I agree that men should be able to sleep and lounge in fine nightwear. Why is it that women get the soft cozy styles and fabrics while men's loungewear is somewhat coarse and...well...blah? Well, I will wear and sleep in what I find the most comfy and the best looking. And not to toot my own horn Peter, but I think I look very nice in this set!

I do have one more still on backorder and it should be arriving in mid-July. It is just a gown only with no peignoir. And it will be a nice blue with short sleeves rather than sleeveless as this black gown is right now.

Really, why men can't wear fine nylon and satin nightwear , beautifully decorated with lace and other additional decorations? I sleep and lounge at home in satin/nylon nightgowns and robes for years. And what a wonder!- I managed to persuade my wife, that sleeping in a satin nightgown is far more comfortable, than in flannel PJ's she used to sleep. And she bought herself two sets of satin sleepwear! After she tried a satin nightie, she told me "You were right!"
The only problem is, as someone of you noticed, that this type of sleepwear is made "without having men in mind". For example, I'm 189 cm tall (that means approx. 6'4"). Most American and European nightgown manufacturers (Miss Elaine, Shadowline, etc.) produce all nightgowns and robes with standard length of 53" - tat;s too short for me, because floor lenth is of essential importance for me. I found another way- I order all my satin nightwear with local or foreign (via Internet) manufacturers. It becomes a bit more expensive....but we live just once:) Last year I ordered a marabou trimmed peignoir and a lacy nightgown with a plus size lingerie shop, located in Chicago, IL. The peignoir is like this one:
and the gown is this one, but made from the same sheer pink nylon, like the robe:
The set was not cheap at all- it was about USD 175.00 with length and size customization.... But the feeling is really superb! Guys, we live just once!
Best regards

Re: Nightshirts?
For the benefit of readers who might like to know, nightshirts in nylon tricot and sheer nylon are available for men at
http://www.comfilon.com/catalogloungewear.asp
Other unbifurcated products include caftans/nightgowns for men in nylon tricot, and slips ("kilt liners") for men in both nylon tricot and sheer nylon.
Hope that information is useful.

No one seems to notice the date of posts they comment on...ie: next to last post and the previous ones were all from before June 23, 2008, that's over two years ago.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

It may just be me, but I quite like it when an old thread comes back to life, it encourages me to look back through older posts that I have often forgotten and it is surprising how often I find something of interest.Since1982 wrote:No one seems to notice the date of posts they comment on...ie: next to last post and the previous ones were all from before June 23, 2008, that's over two years ago.
I guess some threads don't stand to test of time well, for instance posts saying "I'll be at... anyone want to meet up" but many are worth a repeat read.
Have fun,

Re: Nightshirts?
L just looked at the comfilon link posted above and found the "Men's Caftan, V-Neck, 3/4 Sleeves, Nylon Tricot" (pictured below). Has anyone tried one of these? How opaque are they?
I'd be interested in any feedback based on experience of these.
