Hi Al.
The skirt alteration couldn't have been easier - it opens the door to a whole lot of possibilities for other economic purchases. I prefer to stick with the right hand fastening method (call me old fashioned), and if it can be done in 10 minutes, I'm more than happy.
There are no pleats - apart from the bright red-based 'tartan' it's quite plain. A bit on the short side, but at a couple of quid it was worth the experiment. Something a bit more knee length next time maybe.
I sold the Wurlitzer as it was too ancient for my needs (looks good, but a bit of a technological dinosaur). I now have a Technics EN4 which sounds superb...and doesn't weigh half so much if I need to move it.

The denim Union Kilt I bought a few weeks back I've decided to add Velcro to on the waistband as my size fluctuates these days. I find the unforgivingly positioned popper fasteners are not very practical. It's interesting to see that the kilts are always exemplified worn by a lean, mean guy - which unfortunately isn't me

Hi Mugman

I know what you mean about techno-dinosaur. With in a few
years, I plan on rebuilding my Conn 653, going to a digital 20
rank instrument. It will be time consuming, but at 1/15 the price
of a new digital instrument. BTW-for portability, I use a
KORG i30, running through a Peavey XR700 and a couple of
Yamaha ST-12's. It's like having a Band-in-a-Box!

I restored a Wurlitzer 4573, played it a while, purchased my Conn
653 3 manual theater organ, and donated the Wurlitzer to my
lodges retirement center.

I understand about the 'lean and mean' models. Why can't the
manufacturers display their products on a model that is the
'everyday-Joe' and not the stereo-typical anorexic toothpick.
They must be .1 % of the populace. The other 99.9 % aren't
built that way. When your 'hips' are smaller than your 'waist'......
Well-You know what I mean......

This weekend is the North Texas Irish Festival. I hope to make
it there on Sunday. Will proudly wear my Irish National SWK.
Yesterday, even in the high wind, I wore my NightStalker SWK.
Wife teased me, as we came out of the grocery store, that the
wind blew up my 'skirt' in the back. She accepts the skirts around
the house, but only my kilts when out and about.

Happy Skirt converting to Skilts! Always nice to 'practice' on
an inexpensive item before trying a higher priced one. If you hav'ta
screw-up, it's better to be on the 'cheap' side than seeing $$$$
fly out the window!
