Rally for local radio station
Rally for local radio station
Today was the date of a rally for a local radio station in my area. The station is a progressive station. There is one show that is just hillarious and great to listen to in the morning, The Stephanie Miller show.
This rally was to show support for both her show, and the station.
For this event I decided to go skirted.
After work I got out of my grubby workclothes, cleaned up a bit, trimmed my nails and chose tonight's outfit.
I stood in my room, nekid looking at my selection of skirts. I chose my shiny black lycra mini skirt. With this I decided to wear my sheer black comfilon hose, and a nice long sleeved men's grey shirt. For foot wear, my motorcyle boots.
I put on the hose (this is always the thrilling part of getting dressed for me, it just feels so nice putting hose on while wearing nothing else. The second thrilling is pulling the skirt up over the hose, feeling that sleek smooth material slide over my legs, thighs, and rear.) skirt and the rest, made sure the outfit looked as well put together as it could, got my trench coat, and headed out.
As usual it felt great going out dressed like this. My legs looked incredible coming out from the hem of the shiny skirt. I felt a little trepidation with what I was planning on doing, but put that aside.
I arrived at the hotel where the rally was taking place, parked my car, and walked to the entrance. I tried not to wrap the trench around me to hide my outfit, and was quite successful at it. The door man greeted me very nicely with a "good evening sir, how I may help you?", despite the fact I was wearing a tight mini skirt and what must have appeared to him as black pantyhose. (the ironic thing is, the only female garment I was wearing was the skirt). He showed me in and directed me to the room where the event was to take place.
When I entered I felt trepidation again and decided to keep the trench on, but leave it open, by having my hands clasped behind me in such a way it pulled the coat back, exposing my skirt's front and sides.
I got a few looks, none hostile. Most were questioning, looks of pure curiosity. I showed little reaction. I carried conversations about the show with a couple of people, who chatted quite amiably with me.
The event was fun, and informative. I got to meet the program director, and Miss Miller herself (If you haven't heard the show, you should give it a go. She is hilarious)
One thing very obvious at this event. I was the only person their in a skirt. All the women were wearing (fanfare), jeans. Except for one older woman, who was wearing some lilac colored leather pants.
The one thing I would change in this evening if I could, would be, I would take the trench off. I think my fears were unfounded.
But, I went to a totally strange place, with people I have never met, while skirted as a straight male. Hopefully people who saw me, will have some curiosity about what they saw, and discuss it with others.
Now, guys. It is your turn:)

Nice story Pythos, well done. I know the feeling of trepidation all too well. The trick is not to give in to it, and you become a stronger person.

Agreed. Giving people the experience of seeing a man in a skirt is good. Some will think the conventional thoughts that have been programmed into them and require no effort. Some, mainly those who don't take conventional wisdom at face value, will hopefully begin to question why shouldn't / why don't, men wear skirts. But, I went to a totally strange place, with people I have never met, while skirted as a straight male. If I want to dress like a woman, I'll wear jeans.

Is the radio station considering going off-air? Is the community against this
radio station? How about a few more details? Enquiring minds want to know!
BTW-Thanks for showing support for Comfilon's. There're Great!

Actually the station cut her show down by two hours for a morning show that was local. Which in itself was not a bad idea (the show that is), but cutting a light hearted show that is about serious issues by two of its three hours was the error. People, including yours truly bombarded the station with emails concerning this.
The program director placed a poll on their website, about whether or not to keep Stephie. An overwhelming amount of votes was in favor of Stephanie miller.
With this, the show was brought back, and the rally was essentially a show in numbers what was backing her show.
The station is supposedly doing well, but it is tiny, staffed by a small crew. Stephanie is syndicated to many stations nation wide.
On another note, the comfilons were quite nice all evening, not as nice as the silken mists I wore for the wedding, but nice. They seemed to drag on the skirt a tad bit, not too much, but enough to be noticeable.

Great story Pythos , and that's the spirit and attitude required for an objective point of view from those who's lookin'at us , and from society !!!
Once , a while ago , I was invited to a blues concert (Ronnie Earl) , in a hall where they usally have classical music year round .
On that day , it was one of theese days when "I feel like I wouldn't wear anything but" , my kaki dress ...
I do not wear dresses often , 3 or 4 times a year ... But this dress is so comfy , made out of thick cotton , over the knee , tight neck , long sleeves , morelike a tube dress , not to tight or not to baggy ... and I wear it well ... with some brown opaque tights and low heels short black boots , fixed my hair , some mascara , earing and oil scent !!!
I left the house on a cloud ... and took the subway (20min. ride) to get there ...
I expected to take my seat as I arrived , and leave as it ended ...
My friend (knew I wore skirts) , who promoted the show , told me to pick up my ticket by leaving my name at the gate ...
So , as I left my name , I was told "This way please" , and I was brought backstage where the producer , the musiciens and soundmen were preparing for the show ...
You cannot imagine how odd and how out of place I felt !!!
Everybody wore nice 3 piece suits , and here walks in this freak in a dress !!!
I was introduced one by one to shake hands , and au contraire , I was welcome just as nothing happened , Maybe they hid well their toughts , or it was me , who imagined what could have been their toughts ...
It's paranoia at his worst ...
Anyway , I was well treated , and as time went by , I felt more at ease ...
I sat in the VIP section , and had a great show !!!
As I was coming back home , I wondered why I had this paranoia episode , and it's because , before I leave the house for some place , I virtualise scenarios of situations in my mind , to prepare for any eventuality , and beeing brought backstage was a scenario I didn't expected !!!
In the following weeks , my friend never mentionned about me wearing a dress for that concert ... He could have said "It's funny to see you in a dress" or "You shouldn't have wore a dress that day" , He didn't say anything about it !!!
It shows that we sometimes worry to much about everything , and just being confident in yourself is what makes people around comfortable and at ease !!!

Well done, Pythos -- well done! Screwing up the cajones to go someplace totally strange can frequently take more guts and fortitude than going someplace familiar. Congratulations.Pythos wrote:[...]I went to a totally strange place, with people I have never met, while skirted as a straight male. CJFMix,
I'd like to second Pythos' request for a picture. I find it very difficult to picture guys in dresses and have never found anything that I'd feel socially comfortable wearing as I reckon I'd look like a sack of potatoes in most dresses.
Pythos looked great in his Cheong Sam, but it is too fitted a style for my physique to get away with it, so I'd be fascinated to see the style of dress you wore.
As for our note that
Have fun, and thanks for sharing your thoughts and story,
Ian.

Do not argue with idiots; they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Absolutely , I still have the dress !!!
I think it fits me well ... it is sober and wouldn't take a chance to look like a bag of potatoes !!!
I'd like very much to show it up , but I can't promise anything ,
It depends on having some spare time & some timing ...
