This looks like a seriously macho man's skirt, and not too expensive, available from an e-bay seller in Glasgow. Too bad they don't have my size!

Blaklader Kilt

Post by craigfer »

Hi the kilt is available in sizes 30/R to 42/R

Look at http://www.awltd.co.uk

The kilt was recently named our Product of the Year in the fashion category by Swedish Textile & Clothing Industries Association, TEKO. As professional clothes manufacturers Blaklader, we are obviously immensely pleased and proud to receive such a prestigious award.

Guys,
This is a UK site, do you know if 42 REG (C58) 42W/33L means 42 inch waist?

I think it does -- but I don't want to have to do a return on an overseas purchase.

Richard,
Is a US inch the same as a UK inch?

Also, how can it be 33" long? That would hit the floor!

I believe an inch is the same all over the world, just like a mile or a kilometre!

But 33" is too long to be the real length -- perhaps it's the measurement down one side and half way up the other, who knows how fashion companies work? I think more likely the pop-up list is from men's trousers and the programmers were maybe so busy firefighting some buggy windows registry behaviour they didn't come up with a kilt-appropriate one yet!

But the length is clearly around the knees so the waist is the only important measurement. The waist is not likely to be in cm or you'd be looking at 17" being the largest!

What we need here is some lengthy detail from crfriend with the history of tailoring and the rationale behind strange numbers!
The only thing man cannot endure is meaninglessness.

Very quick delivery - Blacklader work kilt arrived today. This is a very comfortable and practical cotton kilt with lots of pockets, so no need for a sporran. Reaches to just below knee on me, a bit longer than a traditional kilt.

About half a dozen shallow pleats at the back. Belt loops are quite shallow so suitable for wear with a trouser belt rather than needing a kilt belt.
