Jewellery
What jewellery/jewelry do you wear? I'm thinking of rings, bracelets, bangles, necklaces... in whatever material, not necessarily with jewels.
I've recently started wearing wooden bangles (2 on each arm). It took a good deal of searching before I found any big enough that I can get them around my hands. Now I'm considering buying some metal ones, again provided they are big enough that I can get them around my hands. As plain as possible and definitely no jewels or glitzy stuff, because that would be more feminine than I dare go.

Re: Jewellery
Do watches count, or are they too functional? I have a couple of very nice watches with 24-hour faces (midnight (24) and the top and noon at the usual 6 o'clock spot) that I almost always wear. One is fairly new, dating to the late 1980s; the other was my dad's watch and is a mechanical autowinder dating to 1965 or so. I also use pocket-watches if I'm going for a very dressy look with a waistcoat; the ones I usually wear date to theturn of the previous century, but the one with the most ornate chain is only about 5 or 6 years old.Richard III wrote:What jewellery/jewelry do you wear? I've also been known to wear necklaces -- just simple chains with a charm or amulet of some sort on them. For a few years I wore one with a unicorn, and before that I had one that had a read/write head from a 1950s-era disk drive on it (back when they were large enough to see, that is). However, I haven't worn one in years. I don't know why I stopped.
On rings -- I wear one: it's called a "wedding band". That's it.

Yes, I also like the look of these, must get some and try. I wear a fine silver chain with crucifix and also a silver bracelet - both given to me by my wife. Also two nipple rings - don't think I'd go for anything else piercing though.skirtedsailor wrote:I wear a couple of toe rings occasionally. Plain silver bands, nothing too showy. I see them on women all the time and decided I liked the look so I bought several of my own. I've never had any comments or stares so I figure no one notices or they don't care.

I like to wear jewelery:
My wife encouraged me to have both my ears pierced about 10 years ago and I've never looked back. I love wearing earrings: studs, hoops, danglies, depending on how I feel.
I also wear a silver necklace and occasionally a silver bracelet.
On my left hand I wear a white gold wedding ring in a Celtic design (made by Sally Driver, who used to post here regularly a few years back) and on my right hand I wear a silver Celtic knot ring.

My only jewellery these days is a fine gold neck chain that my parents gave to me about 10 years ago.
I used to wear more years ago - when I was a hippy. I had one ear pierced to take a small ear ring way back in 1973. I also used to wear loads of beads and bangles in those days. I used to have more hair too - but we won't go there . . .

It's never too late to have a happy childhood . . .

I wear a bracelet 24/7 in silver, a sort of unisex weight chain.
I have a matching necklace.
I have pierced ears, and often wear a hoop or dangle in my left ear, and a stud in my right.
My weding ring is a gold band with 3 diamonds set in it. When my wife and I chose it, the assistant assumed it was for my wife, and did a double take when we said it was for me.
All of this I wear in male mode, but as an occasional CDer, works then too.

Well, they are always optional, I grew up with both my parents only wearing their rings occasionally. But then again it can lead to confusion like when a friend of my family told my goofy brother that our parents weren't married and my brother believed him.SkirtDude wrote:All I can say is that things are going to get very interesting if I need to wear a wedding band at some future time.

For a while I wore a ring on a necklace when it was too large for me so that is an option, also a tattoo band could probably be made. You also might just get used to a ring in time, I have a thick ring I wear all the time now and never know it is there but it was sure noticeable in the beginning.

You guys are way more stylish than I am. Occasionally I wear an anklet chain - not actual jewelry, just one I made from a series of key chains - you know the kind where you snap the last bead on the chain into a connector! The key chains were freebies, and I wanted to wear something for a fem effect that was not an overtly feminine item. I don't care for wearing rings or wrist watches. My wedding ring stays inside a security box - otherwise I would probably have lost it years ago. I have a nice Seiko watch but the feel of something around my wrist bothers me.

LOL
Some years ago, I left Texas to go to a commercial dive school.
I wanted to be a deep-sea diver.
I knew I needed to have a Rolex Submariner or no one would ever hire me

I could never figure out why the darned thing quit running! Real high quality there huh?
Every time I took it out of my pocket to check... the... tim.... oh, it's an 'AutoWinder'... I get it now!
Once I figured out it wound itself WHILE ON THE WRIST, it kept better time

I can't stand jewelry about my body.
I tried really hard to convince my wife that we should do pocket watches instead of wedding rings... gold and round... same difference!
She won out on the rings and that was the only piece of jewelry I wore consistently in my life.
I had my ears pierced January of '06 and I've been enjoying that quite a bit. I'm still not sure why though.
I do get compliments on my earings; typically small tribal designs in the 12-14 gauge size.
I didn't know the holes could shrink so fast though if I forgot to wear my earrings for several days.
Putting them back in almost feels like when I got the holes punched in my lobes with that big 'ole needle!

I'm with you CR concerning pocket watches.
A really nice pocket watch beats out all those other modern varieties with their whistles and bells.
Just watch out for those AutoWinding ones
