Too right!

Plumbing is a black art best left to the professional practitioners of same. I learned that lesson a few months ago whilst trying to hook up a freshwater feed to a new refrigerator. I'll not say I've never been so wet, but after stemming the (seemingly endless) flow from a drilled pipe with my thumb and trying to locate a bucket to catch the outflow I can certainly empathise with that little Dutch kid at the dike. (Yes, the main shutoff cock was closed; I'm not quite that dim.)

I finally managed to get the thing hooked up, and, in a rather sodden state set forth to contemplate my moistening. I finally figured out what I should have done, but by then it was rather late in the game....

Sorry for the duplicate; I pulled an obscure SMTP error from the server....

Nail Paint

Post by sapphire »

I love decorated nails and have done some pretty amazing stuff with decals, jewels, striping and multi colors of polish. Once, I had a different Disney charater painted onto each fingernail.

The bad news is that if you have healthy nails, they will be somewhat flexible and that is why the polish chips off.

So i just play when I get the urge and don't expect it to last more than a day or two.

I've tried the less-smelly polishes as well as the 'all natural' stuff from the Co-Op, but these don't seem to hold up as long as the industrial stuff sold in most stores.

My biggest problem is getting a nice even coat.

Hmmm, I may just polish my toes tonight! :D

Nails

Post by Me?inskirts? »

Back in the day I used to own a hair salon and as a licensed hairdresser I also did nails. I find that if you smooth out the ridges and most importantly the edge then buff the surface well followed by a quick rub with alcohol on a cotton ball that the polish will stay much much better. The buffing also helps to stimulate blood flow and you will actually see better nail strength and growth. I usually only use a four way polisher these days but used to always put on a couple of clear coats to keep my nails from turning colors when I applied color to clients hair.

Fingernail Polish

Post by Hawkrider3 »

I used to wear clear on ocassion to help strengthen the nails, I have to wear latex gloves for work and after a few hours, your nails are just mush and break easily.

Last year I gave my girlfriend a manicure and then she reciprociated. Initially I got a few looks and comments from co-workers but as it persisted, the comments diminished to nothing. I wear polish all the time now (both hands and feet) and if I don't then my girlfriend asks why I stopped! Some people have made positive comments, both guys and girls. Some give an approving look and the ones that don't, don't matter.

It does work better if you buff the ridges down on your nails, it gives a smoother look and the polish stays on better. Also you have to groom the cuticle for a better look. If you have natural nails, it is better to keep them shorter, the nail is stronger and it won't interfere with typing and the polish won't chip as bad.

I like the pastel (light) colors the best. Some nail polish is best left on the shelf for everyone like the blood reds and black (just plain ugly unless you like the goth look). The ones with lamme (metal particles) looks really cool, almost like nail art.

Happy experimenting to anyone interested!
