Epilogue - Short Skirts & Comfort
Epilogue - Short Skirts & Comfort
All,
Wow, the recent thread on "Short Skirts & Comfort" certainly did blossom into a vigorous debate. That's good; it's always better to be forthright about our feelings rather than to beat around the bush. It's regrettable that one or two individuals became angry and left the forum, but that's bound to happen from time to time. If their feelings evolve and they decide to return, let's be sure to welcome them back!!
I know that many on the forum were offended by the picture I posted, although there were a couple of you who found it appropriate and effective in conveying the lesson in deportment that I meant to share. To the majority of you, I say simply that regardless of one's skill with language and writing, a picture is still worth a thousand words. It's important to consider carefully the full context of a situation before coming to any decision about its worth. Judgements reached in haste or with overly rigid constraints can deny the full perspective that we all deserve.
To those of you who agreed with me, I say thank you. I'm glad that you share my perspective and took the trouble to write. So...may we all continue our good discourse as we wear our skirts with pride!!
Keep in touch, John

John,
Although I have not said so yet, I agreed with you too. Your picture was absolutely worth a thousand words, and taught a lesson in a way that words cannot. That is why I deliberated for so long. In the end, I removed it just to keep things simple. But really, no hard feelings there. I'm glad you're sticking with the Cafe.
Maybe there could be another way to post such pictures --- a URL link to the picture that you host somewhere else, along with a description of the photo. That way, people will know what they're getting into when they click on it!

Hi Bob,
I always use a link for a pic--saves someones bandwidth ( I think ). So many sites out there that do it. I use photobucket.com,

Hope this helps,
Greg

I've said before that I found the photograph useful John - in the sense that Bob refers - as it illustrated something to me in a way that words simply could not.
Notwithstanding that, I completely understand the concerns of some people here that any photographs that could be thought of as mildly explicit or indecent could damage the reputation of this forum - and of MIS in general. For that reason I fully support the idea of making images available off-site on websites such as Flickr or whatever. That way posters can describe a situation or idea or clothing item etc. within a post here and place a link to an image - and it is then left to the reader to choose whether to view it or not.
I might put links to a few photos soon - as I have new boots. Pink ones!

It's never too late to have a happy childhood . . .
I thoroughly endorse Chris's comments (for what its worth). No wonder this forum, despite the occasional detractor, is streets ahead of its time!ChristopherJ wrote:Notwithstanding that, I completely understand the concerns of some people here that any photographs that could be thought of as mildly explicit or indecent could damage the reputation of this forum - and of MIS in general.
