I had someone photograph me today
I was wearing a knee lenght denin skirt to the local shops. They could not believe a guy was wearing a skirt. It was so funny. I wonder what they would think if I wear my full feminine clothes.

Good for you!
Last year, I got to 'upstage' Van Gough!
I was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, while wearing my UK.
I had a lady ask if it would be okay to get my photo. That was fun.
Although, sometimes I wonder if posing for people like this keeps the image of a 'man-in-a-skirt' as something not quite normal.
I've also had the same thing happen closer to home.

I've been photographed too
I've had my picture taken quite a number of times when dressed femme. In one case, a woman took a surruptitious shot of me at a bus stop. The next week she and I were at the same place and this time she asked me if I would pose. I was glad to oblige. Once at an art museum, two tourists pulled a big camera out of a bag and after asking, clicked a few shots. Over time, my picture has definitely been taken regularly.
I'm John, the guy who recently went to Fleet Week. I think some would have taken my picture of the Navy ship, except that photography wasn't allowed.
Cheers, John

Binx,
Looking at how quiet the cafe is at the moment, it seems to me that we should be more welcoming of the full spectrum of people who like cloth flapping around their nethers. Be they testosterone laden "It's not a skirt!" sporran wielders, stiletto clad leg shaving exibitionist types, TVs, as long as they are like my 42" plasma! or people like me, who just want some comfort and an end to sweaty scruttocks.
Toms when I joined back in the mists of, last year sometime, had a good spectrum of the hard of trousered, and was a busy cafe. Now it seems many of the tartan army have gone elsewhere and things seem so quiet that I think many others have wandered off to pastures new.
The cafe seems to be down to 2 or 3 posts a day. I hope it doesn't fade away to nothing, just as I start actually buying skirts instead of trying to squeeze into my kilt.

Me too. I have the feeling the word “femme” has turned a lot of guys off that would otherwise like to discuss many of the issues around Men’s alternative wear.binx wrote:When "dressed femme", wearing "full feminine clothes", are you guys trying to look like women? Is this done "in the context of men's fashion freedom"?![]()

Although the Cafe is generally about fashion freedom and not "dressing femme", the Cafe does not and cannot set restrictions on members' description of themsleves wearing skirts or kilts, or on members' reasons for wearing skirts and kilts. The bottom line is that we use male names and don't try to "pass" as anything but male. Clear and simple. Any further restrictions would lead to dishonesty with ourselves. I want this to be a place where we can all be honest about who we are, allowing for honest personal introspection.
People come and go at the Cafe. There's only so much one can say about wearing skirts. But there are plenty of people for whom the Cafe has changed their life and thinking, and for whom it continues to do so.

Dressing Femme
All,
"Dressing Femme" is the term I use to describe my fashion choice. As most of you know, it involves regular guy clothes and appearance from the waist up, and skirts, pantyhose and heels from the waist down.
My anatomy is 100% male and always will be. I have typical guy interests, in addition to my enjoyment of wearing skirts and heels. That's just me, and that's why I enjoyed wearing my skirt on the Navy ship and seeing all the cool military hardware too.
Cheers & Regards, John
