Another town, another 'saw a guy in a kilt'

Post by MtnBiker »

I've just returned from a wonderful week of vacation, hiking and biking. Last Saturday I was in a tiny North Carolina mountain town and spotted a guy in a utilikilt, then 2 blocks down, another guy in a plaid kilt. I was wearing my Mountain Hardwear hiking kilt. 1 _very_ tiny town, 3 guys not in pants .... not too bad.

I didn't see any men in skirts or kilts last weekend, but was asked on two separate occasions about my Union kilt. Both times the inquirer was a man, and both said they wore kilts :) (but not that day :( )

If I want to dress like a woman, I'll wear jeans.

In the Linz, Austria, area for most of last week. This time I didn't see any other lad/bloke skirted. Surprising, as it's such a laid back place. Had an accident (fall) whilst tr*usered which ripped the knee out of them. No alternative (pending repair) but to wear the only other nether garment I had with me, a black, ankle-length cargo-style skirt. The only comment I got was when some bloke came up to me in the railway station cafe and laughingly queried (in German) why was I wearing white socks! The chap serving me told him (again, in German) that I was "English". The bloke said, "Ahhhh", and went and sat back down with his mates. I heard him tell them I was "English". They all nodded gravely and said, "Ahhhh". No-one else batted an eyelid. Must remember in future about the socks.............

I would have asked how often they wear their kilts. You know, I'm tempted to take a survey at the next Scottish event I attend...
