Picture of Me in skirt -- Dance Flurry, Feb. 2006

Post by AMM »

In February, I was at a dance weekend in Saratoga Springs, NY, to which I wore several of my skirts. The "weekend" turned into just a Saturday, due to a power failure in the area, and a cold one since none of the venues could supply any heat.

Anyway, I was apparently photographed talking to the guy I was sharing a hotel room with, as I just this week found my picture on their website. I've attached the picture.

I'm the one in the blue tiered skirt, my roommate is the one in the Utilikilt.
I've just put on a turtleneck -- in the ballrooms, the dancers had heated things up to T-shirt temperatures, but in the hallway, where the picture is taken, it was about 40 or 50 degrees F (5--10 C)

I'm still planning to take some real photographs of myself and post them, but I don't have any "round tuits" yet.

Good picture! Very 'natural', uncomposed, unforced. :)

What is that skirt made of, by the way? The way it's got a slight sheen and the way it behaves at the seams almost makes it look like a satin or silk?

Home sewn?

Post by Since1982 »

Is that tiered skirt home sewn? I made a couple out of a cotton blend that looks very much like that satiny look. Also the amount of tiers is more than is usually sold in stores. Those Chinese 3 or 4 tiered skirts that are in all the shops have that all the same thick lace around the bottoms no matter what color they are. It looks very nice, AMM.. :):cheer: :cheer:
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

I've been skirted part time since 1972 and full time since 2005. http://skirts4men.myfreeforum.org/

Yes, I made it myself. I wanted a fairly full skirt (30" long, 210"? hem), and you can't buy them in any store I have found. It's fun to twirl in, but I have discovered that if it's too full, and you twirl, the motion is unstable -- you start getting waves instead of a smooth "lampshade" shape.

(My next tiered skirt will have 6 tiers, each a different color, to get a "rainbow" effect.)

35/65 Cotton/Poly broadcloth. I don't know why it looks so shiny. It must be some trick of the lighting, as it really has a flat finish.
