An introduction & a tip!
Hello folks,
I'm happy to have found this site and I have enjoyed reading through some of the posts so far. I'm so proud of all of you for tossing aside the mandates of instilled cultural paradigms in order to do something that makes sense on all sorts of levels. If you like how you look, who cares what it is. We have the right to express ourselves however we wish without enduring persecution as some kind of sexual deviants. A female can wear absolutely any kind of clothing and it's no big deal.. But if you are a male wearing anything other than the standard clothes then watch out!
Clearly society is slowly but surely moving towards a kind of passive acceptance of men who are expanding their horizons in terms of fashion, comfort, and sheer practicality.
I hate pants. I love skirts. I especially love kilts because their form and function is simple yet perfect. Not too long to get in the way, not too short, plenty of room to move, absolute comfort. Whose idea was it to put men into a garment that has a seam cutting right into their crotch? It makes much more sense for females to wear such a garment.
I can go on and on, and I may.. But in this first post I just wanted to say hello to you all, thank you all for your progressive attitudes and courage in the face of adversity.
I also want to give you all a link to the greatest sock resource on the planet, so far as I've found. I love these people. They have a "men's" section which they set up only out of insistence from customers, but the girl that runs it thinks their socks are for everyone. Many types of long socks that look absolutely fantastic with kilts and skirts. No, I don't work for them or have any association other than a very satisfied customer.
Sock Dreams!
Glad to be with you,
Saturna

my God, I never thought socks could be so cool! I want some for sure.. thanks for the tip. It's not often one finds something completely new in fashion--I've looked all over for socks to match kilts but everything is a compromise. one time I ended up cutting a pair in order to have the right colours above the boot, because they were too short to show otherwise.
The only thing man cannot endure is meaninglessness.

Sock Dreams...
Saturna, welcome to the forum. I also deal with Sock Dreams quite frequently and have bought quite a few pairs of socks from them over the past year... I especially like the Super Stripes Knee-Highs - http://www.sock-dreams.com/_shop/pages/ ... ID_438.php... They're long enough to have a decent turnover at the base of the kneecaps and are comfortable when wool kilt hose is too warm, but nylons are too cold.
In the pic below, I'm wearing the black/army green Super Stripes socks with a pleated skirt and a pair of Asolo hiking boots. I also have three other pairs. black/white, green/white, and the charcoal/forest green colors... They go well with pretty much any knee-length or shorter skirt and most of the casual non-traditional kilts (such as Utilikilts)...
