Am I the only one having a problem seeing Hamish's video. Photobucket requires use of Flash 8 or newer. The version of Flash available for us Linux users is Flash 7! I tried the ruse of running firefox under wine and downloading flash 8.5 for it, but no joy..........
I was reduced to borrowing my wife's laptop to use Windows XP with Flash 8. It's a great video, Ham.
Has none had a similar problem?

There's a matter of principle here - the use of Open Source software such as Firefox and Linux gives me the same sense of underlying pleasure as it does to wear a skirt! Windows and IE are OK - but Firefox is a rising star because of the improved security aspects as a browser. Internet Explorer 7 - available as a beta- will just about reach the standards of Firefox as it is now. Many governments around the world are accepting that Open Source has to be the unifying standard if we are to offer the same opportunities in IT to all - especially in the less affluent nations.
Try a live Linux CD such as Knoppix, Ubuntu or - my favorite - Puppy Linux, and you'll realize that there is another world out there. The problem is that some of the commercial companies are a bit slow in realizing the demand to port their software to Linux. Realplayer is fine, but Flash is a version behind. So, yes, you get Flash 8 for Windows and for MacOSX but Flash 7 for Linux. I'm prepared to wait for the right version.
Sorry about the rant - but it's all to do with freedom, and that's what the cafe stands for!
