Skirts I made...

Post by Yaun »

Hi All,

I'm new here and wanted to show some of the skirts, I already made by myself. Mainly, because I didn't find any, which fit me and which I like. I hope it doesn't look like inappropriate 'showing off'.
While looking through the photos, I realized that I don't have pictures from all of them... well, that has to be changed some time...
This is a skirt with box pleats all around. I had to redo it three times, until it fell nicely and started over several more times, because the pleats were off:

This is one of my first X-Kilts with box pleats from 2024. Unfortunately the fabric is not really well suited and gets wrinkles really fast. Somehow I don't have pictures from the successors...

This is again an own design from 2024: a skirt with deep knife pleats and side pockets.

A kilt-like skirt from 2025 with an apron and knive pleats, but it's not wrap-around, but closed by a button and an invisible zipper. It's wonderful to wear. Design by me.

Another skirt from 2025 with seven deep box pleats. Unfortunately I just have pictures from the finished, but not washed skirt, therefore the markings are still visible. It has deep side pockets hidden in the side box pleats and back pockets (!). Design by me.

This is the newest skirt from 2026. The first one without pleats and with cargo pockets. And again design by me.
Edit: it's a wrap-around skirt.

You have done a good job there Yaun. I like the pleated skirt and the cargo one the best. The one with pleats all the way round is good as well. That's quite skill you have.
I have a sewing machine but I've yet to try it out.

Thank you!
And skill... well, stubborness would describe it better, I think...
And with practice, you'll become better. Just go for it!

All of your skirt/kilts look good, you should be proud of them. I would imagine you get pleasure in wearing your own creations. Well done.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

I also made a black box pleat skirt as one of my first projects, it's still one of my favourites.

They all look good as others have said, I quite liked the kilt like skirt, might copy that design. What fabrics are you using?

I used a rather soft Bengaline fabric with about 60% polyester.

This is my latest X-Kilt incarnation, made from Bengaline fabric last year. I like to wear my kilts and skirts low waist with a belt and belt pockets for... stuff, so another point, kilt fundamentalists could brag about...
