Thanks Guys, the "rest" of me belongs to today,
In that one the hair was the main focus, the skirt is a plain black midi accompanied by scruffy white trainers/sneakers.
We had a great evening, but pictures at the end of it, sleep was needed and badly.
Steve.

Jim - nevermind going barechested, I'd settle for being able to scratch an itchy chest without getting lewd looks or comments.

That's sad, Susie. One of my skirt-wearing motives is to combat sexism.

I wore my indigo SeamsFriendly skirt out to the medical center and a few other places today, the one seen here: viewtopic.php?t=22552&start=120#p276031

First time really wearing it around other people, and it's got a lot more structure/body than I'm used to in a skirt. It floats away from my body in a nice way but also in a way I'm totally not used to feeling! I always kind of liked the look of a casual cotton skirt that flares out a bit and is worn with sneakers, and that's kinda of where I was at.

I feel like I got a lot more attention drawn to myself than usual, but not in a negative way, I just stood out more. I talked to people, had some close elevator rides with strangers, etc. and it was fine.

It's a slightly breezy day and that part felt nice but not enough to have a Marilyn Monroe moment, thankfully.

The only negative is that I've lost weight since I last tried it on and it was slipping a bit over time. So lesson learned, stick to waists with a bit of elastic!

There's nothing wrong with the way you present yourself. I bet you would get complements and deserved as well. The floatiness of skirts is the best part of wearing one.
I don't get many complements, I'm starting to think my style is lacking.🤔

Sounds like a good experience. Adding a piece of elastic in the waistband is usually very easy.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm sure most of us wish we got compliments regularly, I know I feel that way. I don't really have much of a style other than "swap boring uncomfortable pants for slightly less boring comfortable skirt" haha.

I'm still trying options to find what I like to wear and what seems positively received in public. Most women have a lifetime of access to that from a young age, for better or worse .

That's a great idea, thanks! It would be nice to have it fit a little better. Most of my skirts or kilts are either a bit stretchy in the waist or adjustable in some way, so I haven't run into this issue often.

As I pick up my skirts at a thrift store that doesn't allow trying things on, I've had the issue of the skirt being too loose several times. Another solution I've tried is adding belt loops. Fine for a work skirt if I use very strong thread, but I don't have the skill (or maybe the patience) to make loops look great.

There is this third option, just use the old fashion suspenders for a unique look. Try to find color matching suspenders that will complement each other.

Suspenders are fine for long skirts, but don't use elastic suspenders on short, loose skirts if you don't want to show people what's under there.

Jim, there is still other options you can use. Find a top you like to wear with and put that tail of that top inside the skirt and with safety pins punned it to the skirt, like a dress. This is another possible solution without any sewing.

There is this possibility using a cloth belt yon can add snaps and snap it to the skirt and tie the belt in front.

I have a mini retractable tape measure which I try to remember to have with me if I am shopping at charity (thrift) shops. Even if you cannot try things on you should be able to measure the clothes. Most sewing shops in the UK seem to stock these mini retractable tape measures and they only cost a few pounds. Once you have a good idea of the measurements that work for you, it should be possible to buy clothes that fit reasonably well.

Out and about today with Susie too.
Lovely lunch and a joint manicure, all very jolly.
On way back a teenager admired my nails and also asked if I wear tights as my legs looked smooth.
The skirt I had on didn't even merit a mention, just like it was taken for granted.
This is how MIS will be normalised, no "dressing up", just the guy interacting normally and living his life, end of.
Steve.
PS I was also wearing a satin shirt, smooth as ice so I had braces/suspenders on too to prevent slippage.

Yesterday was the Illinois primary, and the first time I voted in a dress. I've worn skirts to the polling place before. Everyone acted normally and respectfully.
