My worlds come together

Post by Mouse »

So you all know that I have my work look and my play look. The Mouse I present to my clients is crazy weird, but skirted with a small range of standard "don't frighten the horses" skirts. The flip side, when I am in my village and visiting Tesco's or Screw-fix, is far more creative and interesting as far as skirt wearing. My picture area has plenty of village pictures, so you get the point.

So I visit a clients site, about 25 miles away from my house. I have to pass a working excavator to get to where I need to work, and even though I am in a HiViz jacket, it is my policy to make contact with the driver, before proceeding into the danger zone. Normally this would be done with a few hand gestures, however to my surprise the driver shuts off the machine and leans out to talk to me. Turns out he knows me!!! Before this job, he was working in the Screw-fix in my village and has seen me in Tesco's. Further conversation reveals he is currently living with his parents, who live in the same village as me, their house residing in the next road to mine!! He is very friendly and pleased to see me and we both go about our respective work.

There is no problem, since most of the boundaries I maintain, are all in my head. The fact I wear skirts everywhere, means that it is not news for me to be in a skirt. But it did show to me, how easily the walls you put around parts of your life, can be knocked down. The same fear has also prevented me from putting much on social media away from the Cafe.

I do have some clients, where I have shown them pictures of Mouse in latex, to great interest and complements. But that is me putting a small hole in the wall to a select few. I think ultimately pictures of Mouse will get everywhere, so I just have to own things and not worry about things..
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

Ah Mr Mouse.
Everyone who meets face-to-face with their clients is concerned about their appearance during those meetings, and many often choose something different for those meetings than they do for their off-hours. I don't think you should consider this a retreat from your authentic self in any way. Your choice to wear skirts in all situations is an inspiration to many who struggle to wear skirts in public at all. I find myself backing away from certain skirts in certain situations, though I wear skirts 90 percent of the time when out and about.
The same is true for social media; not putting everything out there can be prudent, given the amount of weirdness that is prevalent on the net at large.

The world is a small place. :)

Then again, I would not say you dress down for work, but rather you dress appropriately, a long flowey white skirt and high heels do not belong on an excavation site, no matter how you dress in your down time.
Not alone with a dream, Just a want to be free, With a need to belong,
I am a skirtsman
Freedom, Freedom, Freedom, Freedom
