Out and About -- In the World at Large

Been spending a lot of time visiting medical facilities lately and I'm usually wearing a kilt or skirt. People generally just notice and then go back to whatever they were doing. Yesterday we were walking past a hallway waiting area, and I was wearing a black Skirtcraft wrap skirt and a hoodie up top, and this one older woman sitting with her husband...I felt like I broke her brain because she just froze like a deer in the headlights with a blank expression. Maybe trying to process "masculine below the knees, masculine above the waist, wait...a skirt?" I had a quiet chuckle to myself as we went past. It's kind of fun to break people's brains a little once in a while.

I also saw a woman there from either south or southeast Asia wearing a pretty skirt around mid-calf length with trousers underneath in a slightly different pattern (and a head-scarf). I thought it was an interesting look.

Went for an outing to London yesterday to see a band called "All Time Low" at the O2 Arena, during my journey there I wore what's become my favourite outfit at the moment (Tan short sleeve jumper & brown corduroy mini skirt), outfit three in this Pics & Looks post - viewtopic.php?p=273323#p273323.

On the way to train station walked past two young women, once past them, one of them stopped and shouted out a couple of times "HE'S WEARING A SKIRT!". Most visible reaction I can recall having for a while now, just completely ignored them and carried to the station. With it being quite uncommon at the moment to see a man in a skirt, can understand her reaction, wouldn't call it a negative one, more of an observation of what she just saw!

Other than that, a pretty uneventful trip, wore a new tartan dress I've bought recently for the concert itself, it even has pockets!

Modest milestone this weekend. I went along to a folk music weekend, camping out even though it was a bit chilly. I wore my black denim kilt with black opaque tights all weekend, taking part in lots of music sessions and engaging with fellow folkies.

A few slightly puzzled looks but no one commented and everyone was super friendly. Another step forward!

Went to Aldi to buy some beer this week.

Wore my favourite black miniskirt, black tights and black plimsoles. Pretty under-the-radar combination.

Decided to walk into the town centre shopping mall from there. Had a coffee, then looked around M&S, Primark, Next and H&M for mini skirts, before trying on and buying a couple of bodysuits in H&M.

So, although not very adventurous combination, I am feeling more confident being most places in public, and being able to try on and buy female clothes in public feels a big positive step.

Don't put yourself down camperguy. I'm not in the zone enough to wear a miniskirt with tights and plimsolls. You also walked into your own town.

I've been hanging out at a hospital 24x7 lately while my wife undergoes a long procedure, and I've been wearing a skirt or kilt quite often. I really don't find pants comfortable when I'm staying put for periods of time so it's been a blessing. No comments or issues at all from staff or other patients or when I go run errands away from the hospital.

Something funny did happen the other day though. I stopped at Walmart to pick up something (not wearing a skirt this time) and as I was finishing up at the self-checkout, I noticed that the tall African-American woman at the next checkout was wearing a really nice khaki-camo knee length skirt and I looked down as I walked past to really observe the details of it. The worker overseeing the checkouts sternly said "Have a good day, sir" and caused me to break my gaze from this woman's posterior. Ooops! I just went on my way, not trying to explain that I was just admiring her skirt.

Just spent the last couple of days wearing my midi length a-line denim skirt in Wokingham, Reading and Windsor without any issues. It was so nice to feel the skirt move in the wind as I walked around and was lovely to wear in sun today in Windsor.

Had a nice compliment from a lady at the premier inn I was staying in Wokingham saying that she really liked my skirt and asking where I got it from. She also explained that she doesn’t wear skirts often but is she had one like mine then so would wear them more!

I’m hoping to have more skirted adventures soon, going to Greece in April where I plan to spend most the time in a skirt or kilt.
