Sheer tights and pantyhose

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

I picked up two pair at Costco at a very good price; have not seen them there lately, unfortunately. They are moderately sheer, enough opacity to hide my rather sparse leg hair (I don't shave there). I recommend them enthusiastically also.

I wear tights/pantyhose often in public places; to me, they are the appropriate thing to wear with a dressy skirt to plays, concerts, church, etc.

Before I started my adventure wearing skirts, I was a regular wearer of tights, for the last 16 years at least.

I started with the most invisible tights I could find, maybe 7 denier natural tan. They would run easily, but I was paranoid about what people would think. I started under men's shorts, but soon moved to women's shorts - they are a length I prefer (mid thigh).

I soon realised that I could more comfortably wear 15 denier tights, and tend to buy the Silky brand of smooth knit tights. I also buy 20 denier. I find that over 20 denier they don't feel the same. I also like that at 15 or 20 denier, they are not entirely invisible.

I also started wearing black opaque tights, e.g. 120 denier. They are still a big staple of mine, but I have tried to branch out to lighter shades and as low as 40 denier at times, plus also ribbed and other textured tights. I wanted to move away from tights that were in effect invisible, either because they actually were, or because people thought I was wearing men's exercise leggings.

Now I am wearing skirts a lot, it is encouraging me to find different styles of tights to match, although the staple 120 denier opaque black is still hard to beat from a styling perspective.

Cheers.

As a added layer of warmth during the cold parts of winter Ive resorted to wearing flocked pattern leggings under my skirts. More durable than tights.

As I love the look of ultra sheer black tights and fishnets on my legs I have been wearing them layered on top of Caucasian skin colour fleeced leggings to full of effect. The fleeced leggings I bought in Primark.

I prefer thicker tights because I don't want to shave my legs. It's a hassle because I like to get into the shower, lather and rinse and get out. My head is shaven. So, I'm in and out in three minutes.
