Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

At the London Meetup 6/2, five men in skirts were given a discount on a round of drinks by the barman for guessing that the word of the day was "skirts".

Thanks Barleymower.
Another one! Today I was wearing what I think of as my Hippie or Boho skirt -- colorful, fun, lots of swish and you gotta watch out for stepping on the hem or closing it in the car door --- but despite light weight it is quite warm with all the fabric naturally folding. Anyway, chatting with some folks after our Meeting and a fellow who has been visiting for about a month was standing next me; clearly gazing at my skirt, started to point and clearly wanted to say something, he couldn't get much past your _____ as he knew it was not a kilt but apparently couldn't bring himself to say "skirt"; but he did go on to say he liked the colors. I told him it was one of my favorite skirts as it feels cheerful, and pointed out my socks -- some crazy colored animal socks from my sister; and he relaxed a bit & was then pointing to his vest with color and embroidery like designs -- albeit not overly 'feminine'. So, I'll count this as another rare male compliment. (Invited him to join us for a New Years eve gathering at our home....we'll see what happens.) Here are a couple of pics, only taken at home later. I'd sure like to find a way to capture these events with Mouse's little remote release for the cell phone .
Yes, I actually have two, similar from Mouse's recommendation -- the problem is finding a place to park the phone discreetly and hang around in a crowd in a manner that it will pick up their activity/observation while there is some MIS present. Pretty much 100% of the time there is no discernible change in anyone's behavior or gaze -- which is exactly what I'd like our newer members to be able to see -- a picture backing up what so many have said about MIS being a non-event.
Mouse has found a technique using the base of the tube; but we have no 'tubes' here and mostly a real Hodge podge of structures making the mechanics difficult. But, yea -- great idea and keep spreading it around.
I have used the kerb of the roadway or a street furniture base. You may have to crop some foreground out of your shoe, but most of my pics are cropped anyway. My main worry with crowds is that some lowlife will run off with my phone.
Been spending a lot of time lately shuffling my wife to medical appointments and I have been wearing shorter kilts for the most part, hitting just above the knee. The nurses comment positively sometimes and one of the female doctors got into a discussion about it with my wife and I because she was curious about my motivations for wearing one.
Anyway, yesterday I was wearing a kilt with lots of green and tan in the tartan and a brown tee shirt and a green face mask. One of the male nurses was standing nearby and said "I like how you coordinated your green mask with your skirt!" and I thanked him. He's definitely gay, so maybe that doesn't totally count as a "rare male compliment" but I'll take it.
Must be my week for male compliments... in the waiting room of the medical center yesterday I was wearing a black SkirtCraft wrap skirt and a grey polo. An older (than me) guy and his wife were a bit lost and asked if this was the correct waiting area for certain procedures and I said it was and they were grateful. He sat next to me and we chatted a bit. At one point he kind of took notice of my skirt suddenly and mentioned I looked really comfortable. I told him that with all the waiting rooms and long drives I've been going through lately that I really appreciate garments that flow around my midsection instead of being constricting. We kind of left it at that. His wife didn't comment but I don't think she was feeling well.
