Skirted man in a band on Strictly
Skirted man in a band on Strictly
In the Strictly Come Dancing results show on Sunday was a performance by a band called James. One of the band members was wearing what looked like a quite long (maxi?) black skirt. Not sure why he had a brass instrument with him as I didn't see him use it!
There's a clip of the band performance on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blN8Sk5I4rU
For those in the UK with a TV licence (!) the whole show is at https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m ... 12-results

Re: Skirted man in a band on Strictly
the chap is Andy Diagram, trumpet player in a few bands, he's played widely, including Glastonbury.
His facebook page has a few photos of him, sometimes wearing maxi skirts, no specific mention, just gets on with it as if it's natural - which of course it is - unless you want to make an issue of it!
we just need to follow his example

I think he is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Diagram, He its a trumpeter, percussionist and backing singer in the band. Not that I know anything about "James", but did a bit of idle research....His Instagram...bright yellow skirt https://www.instagram.com/p/DBWhkXsN5dk ... mg_index=1MrSoapsud wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 3:34 pm In the Strictly Come Dancing results show on Sunday was a performance by a band called James. As referenced on page 1 of my skirters of the music industry thread
James are a great band - one of my favorites. Tim Booth is an enigmatic frontman who writes some great songs / lyrics.

Sit Down was their breakthrough tune from ‘89 (flopped) - re-released in’91 (smash hit).
Takes me back to my yoof

That’s exactly it. It needs to become normal and boring. Because it’s just clothes.oldnick2 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 9:18 pm the chap is Andy Diagram, trumpet player in a few bands, he's played widely, including Glastonbury.

I was watching Glastonbury and two guys from Gary Numan’s band were wearing long skirts on stage. They looked very cool and I liked the look.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist.

The way he has styled it looks natural, silhouette is the same as the hakama. Long skirts with a slight A-line work on most men.
What would be more interesting was if the male dancers were wearing skirts - as the women in the clip demonstrate, full skirts make great visual flare.

Every little bit of public exposure helps. Maybe just a little, but still good to see.
