I just want to drop a fair warning about that subreddit.

It gets a lot of risky/upskirt crossposts from CD/TV subreddits, the mods do get around to cleaning it up eventually but you might see some unwanted pictures if you get in at the wrong time.

I decided to leave it, to many posts I don't want to see. There are a few good posters there and I know a few fellow café patrons also post there occasionally.

I concur with Seb. I sent some messages to the mods several years ago, but little to nothing was done and I left the sub as well. I think the trouble is there is no one "right way for a man to wear a skirt" but I do think some gatekeeping is acceptable when a sub has a narrow definition of what their stated goals are (ie, MIS, not CD/etc...).

I kind of wish more MIS posted to r/outfits and r/fashion, but those are HUGE subs and it's a bit scary to open yourself to potential negative feedback. I never had the guts, and frankly never felt I would be understood by those groups. There are other alt fashion subs on reddit that are more accepting, but those have also been taken over by the aforementioned groups to some degree and I just kinda stopped going to Reddit for style ideas.

It's likely worth recalling that for many (if not most) MIS == TV/T*, full stop. So the deck is stacked against us from the get-go.

Note that there is no "right way" nor "wrong way" for a man to wear a skirt. However, there are some moderators to behaviours that can be used.

1) Does the outfit look believable, or is it "clownish"?
2) Does it scream that, "I'm role-playing" or trying to be someone/something that I am not?
3) If you are overtly uncomfortable in it, is that likely for a reason?

If any of the above are operative, then you likely have a problem that needs to be addressed before venturing out into the wild. Done well, a man in a skirt looks precisely as comfortable in his situation as a man in trousers; done wrong, the delicate balance is thrown asunder and everybody in the general area will become aware of it. The guy who is comfortable will likely get kudos; the one who is not will likely experience derision.

So, yes, a whole lot of it revolves around one's own confidence -- and does NOT have to revolve around denim and heavy boots. Choose your looks cogently.

I followed a few on this reddit sub, but quite a few were clearly transitioning as for some, MIS is just a stepping stone. There was one guy from Belgium who posted here about a pink denim skirt he wore to the shops... and is now transitioning to a woman. Some of the pictures are't great but there are quite a few who are obviously men wearing various skirt styles who are out and about  Reddit is a minefield in general. Vicson Wong on Instagram has some good looks too...

Have you tried r/oldhagfashion? Some MIS post there. Some of those other groups are also present, but they are also minorities. No upskirts or other dodgy stuff; modesty remains the order of the say.

I used to post my outfits there - it's one of the alt subs I was mentioning. But, there were very few guys (maybe two others?) who posted as guys dressing as they were, and I just felt like my presence was just noise. Maybe some day in the future. The other thing - I don't have any interesting pants-based outfits, and felt I really should mix it up a bit.
