The rise of the performative male
A recent article in the Conversation explores the rise of the performative male and how some younger men are experimenting with aspects of masculinity. Some parts of the article may be of interest to members of the Café.
For example, the caption to the opening photograph is "If we are calling out ‘[rad-fem hate-speech redacted]’ as a society, then why do public responses to softer versions of masculinity shift between curiosity, irony and judgment?”

Re: The rise of the performative male
Unfortunately, all the article does is verify the notions I already had that, "If you're not the Marlboro Man you're a nobody." That really has to change, but I don't see that happening now in my lifetime. Things have just gotten too bad -- at least where I live.
