Stressed over delayed parcel

Post by DrFishnets »

I bought myself an electric guitar yesterday from Andertons for next day delivery that I’ve used before with no problems until now. After I purchased it I received emails that my guitar has been shipped and updates from DPD tracking app that the parcel is in one of their depots. Anyway, I received another update message on tracking activity on the app that there’s a delay with my parcel at the sortation facility and that this normally will resolve within 24 hours so now I have to wait an extra day for delivery.

However, I googled the issue and very stressed out and worried now after reading other people having the same or similar messages from DPD and never receiving their parcel. I fear that I’ve lost the guitar and I fear I’ll not get refunded even though I used PayPal as a form of payment when buying from Andertons.

Anyone with the same experience?

Firstly, stop stressing out then ring Andertons at 10:00 on 01483 456777.
Explain the issue with the parcel being delayed.
Then it will becomes Anderton's problem, not all yours.

Thanks Shadowfax. I’ll give them a phone and see what they can do.

This is the first time I’ve had issues with DPD as up until now they were always reliable.

I phoned Andertons but was told that they are busy and they will put me on call back so I phoned DPD and I got told that the reason for the delay in my parcel was because the are really busy with Christmas so there is a backlog in parcels. She told me I should receive my parcel tomorrow. So next day delivery is pointless at this time of the year. Hopefully, I receive my parcel tomorrow becasue it’s freaking me out reading all those posts on the internet about people getting the same message as me on their tracking app and then finding out their parcel is lost or stolen.

It's not worth working yourself up over. Make the right noises and request a refund if it does not arrive.

Think yourself lucky. Next day delivery is pointless any day of the year where I live. I start to worry after 2 weeks.
Never look up the worst scenarios on the internet ......... You will only find them. There is a lot more chance it will turn up OK, albeit late.
