Some rather bored M&S IT/web person is likely behind this.
Human error or a clever sales stunt, who knows ?
If it did end up as a massive profit booster, promotion or at a loss, you're fired!

M&S are not scared of anything. They just used a cropped picture from Wolfskin women's website and changed the text from women to men and threw it on the website to show they are progressive.
I think perhaps they are scared Mouse, otherwise they might do something meaningful like saying "Clothes are for everyone, so we at M&S will no longer be segregating clothes by sex". That might affect their brand by altering public perception and get them accused of being woke.
M&S might want to avoid a "Jaguar" moment... but their general type of customers aren't usually in the market for a Skort, they may prefer a knee length grey one from across the aisle

I always like to support any retailer that is prepared to push the boundaries, so I bought one and it arrived today.
To me it proves that as others have suggested, it is purely a listing error. The label shows it is a women's garment, it has no room for the male appendage and is a snug tight fit, it will be going straight back. I am disappointed, and a lesson learnt.

I felt the same, and bought one. Although the weather is not suitable for trying it out as a running garment today, I have no problem with the snug fit. (Maybe I am less burdened in the appendage department!)
