Good experience

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Good experience

Post by steamman »

I had some free time today, so for fun I decided to go to the mall to try on some skirts and dresses. I decided to try a double denim look, denim maxi pencil skirt and a denim jacket. Finished with my favourite, super comfy (and cheap!) 5” block heel ankle boots.

Walking through the mall was fabulous and I went to AllSaints my favourite shop. The sales lady clocked me very quickly and we struck up a great conversation. She completely agreed with me that fabric does not have a gender and you should just wear what you want. She complimented me on my look which meant a lot. I tried on a couple of skirts and browsing through them and the dresses without a care in the world was great. Turning up at the shop in a skirt makes a difference because you are unapologetically showing who you are.

This is very true. When shopping for skirts, I always go to the store wearing a skirt. It makes the store owners a lot more comfortable.

I was just thinking this. If shopping in trousers it still feels odd trying on skirts or anything "female". Shopping skirted seems to make things much easier as its clear I'm shopping for myself. I don't go with any disguise now eg. wigs and so on, but it doesn't matter. Everything is more spontaneous if I demonstrate I wear skirts already without a care. Admittedly my choice is more limited, with size and fits that are less suitable for the male figure.

I always go out shopping wearing a skirt and indeed it makes it easier to go shopping for skirts and dresses. One of the girls at my local charity shop always compliments my style when I buy dresses or skirts. It is a great experience and I got more daring in my style recently when shoppimg by wearing shorter skirts with a pair of fishnet or sheer black tights.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist. 8)

Yeah skirt or clothes shopping in general while skirted can be great fun.
However, let's develop that theme, I wear a skirt whenever and whenever and stop there.
The more men who are skirted during all the routines of just living their lives, the sooner we may see a shift in societal attitude.
Steve.
PS the fun is doubled when you have a companion to do the shopping with.

Definitely go shopping for skirts in as skirt. It saves a lot of explanation and can help speed up the process of finding something you want. One Thrift Shop I went in to I was asked "Are you looking for anything in particular?" and I replied "Yes, I am looking for something like this" pointing to the mini skirt I was wearing. They could not have been more helpful.

I had a lovely experience in France. I was wearing a black satin midi skirt which I had just bought from the market. It was 8.30 am and shops were just opening. I saw a dress shop open and they had an Indian silk Boho sundress on display. Whilst I was looking at it the young female shop assistant approached me and obviously saw I was wearing a satin skirt and asked if i would like to try it on. I was very nervous but replied “Yes”. I went to the back of the shop and she helped me into the dress. Sadly I was very tight across the chest. I think she over did the straps that run through the breast section. She offered to take my photo and she did with my phone of course. I didn’t buy the dress as it was very tight and i had bought a fair bit on the market. But a great experience.

Earlier in the week i had been to another shop close buy and was looking at similar Indian Silk Boho beach dresses and the female shop assistant said “thats just your size”. I held it up to myself and she laughed and walked away. I wasn’t wearing a skirt as I had bought anything by that point.

Ive found very few boundaries in France or in Europe generally. My wife and I visited a posh boutique years ago in France and I was trying on linen trousers and the my wife was in another cubicle. The sizes were very small and not constant with the UK. The female assistant insisted I was an XXL when in the UK I’m a 34 inch waste. Anyway she got me to try the XXL and asked how I was getting on and then entered my cubicle and started to adjust the trousers from the front and them feel my ass by wrapping her arms around me, giving my ass a good slap as she left the cubicle, leaving me to decide if I liked the trousers or not.

I go to France quite often and tend to buy a lot of my clothes in Europe these days.
