I've recently joined a social meetup group in an effort to make some new friends and in general improve my social / conversation skills. Now previously, I've either worn a skirt / dress while out and about on solo trips, such as concerts or holidays, but never when actively meeting up with another group of people. That changed on Friday where I wore a skirt to a trip to a comedy event at the Glee Club in Birmingham.

Was just like any other social event, met up with one of the men who was going after getting off the train and we walked over together.

Other than the host of the group, who said that she liked the skirt, no other comments or reactions from the three other men who were with us. They included me and had some good chats getting to know them. REALLY big confidence boost!

Slight downside was that it was rather windy in Birmingham at the time due to storm "Amy" here in the UK so was a bit preoccupied with ensuring that my skirt didn't blow up in the wind while walking outside.

Interestingly, it seems that my tights was noticed more than the skirt, heard some background comments about "the guy's wearing tights", may just be that the lower denier tights are more noticeable.

Picture of my outfit can be found on my "Pic's and Look's" thread.

A lot of newer Android devices have a setting in Google Camera to detect a raised hand (like a "hello" gesture) to trigger the shutter timer...I've found it quite handy. Set shutter to timer mode -> Set up photo -> Raise hand until the camera draws a square around it -> assume and hold pose.

Did the Pirrama Parkrun in Sydney in my usual black Tartanista casual kilt with Parkrun 100 t-shirt. Hope to do Launceston this coming Saturday and one in Perth the following week.

OK, proof the pudding -- Mouse's remote release tip. Following I am posting my one and only picture to date -- a sad example of photography but it shows exactly what we know: Nobody gives a hoot what we wear. Opportunities here are limited, and no "tube" Mouse to rest the cell phone -- only a broken down curb when I arrived early at the farmer's market, with some stands still setting up, so there were not many people around yet. Several I knew but they were far more interested in the fresh veggies and fruits than my skirt!

The sole picture here was actually an accident when I brushed the remote, but that is good because my other attempts were apparently from too far away and nothing was recorded. Yes, that is me in the white ball cap and the "UPS" uniform (a plain brown wrapper) well down the sight line. You may have to enlarge to even see the hem line, but the message is clear -- nobody gives a hoot about what some guy is wearing. Bravo.

Florida Breezy: The problem I see with 'hello camera' approach is the timing is turned over to the camera; and probably limits you to one shot, and no video option. Let us know how it works for candid, un-posed options.

Couple of things, looking at the camera is good. I find framing is less of a problem as long as you have you in shot and looking good. You can always tidy up the frame with a crop tool and with a modern phone you are still way above the target size of 600 pixels in the width when you come to resemble to get the correct image size for the cafe.

As in all things, the more you do it, the easier it is!

The "target size" has baffled me no end -- several have made suggestions, they all use 'code' acronyms, tech words, and so far as I'm concerned, "blather" that has made what should be a simple single step process an insurmountable obstacle for some of us. I've spewed this complaint before, and always it gets; "it's easy...do this..." and inevitably two or three of us who have struggled with it, throw in the towel again. I think this is my premier gripe with SC. Hence, I've simply used the link option on my phone's photo collection --- I suspect that leaves things more open to be extracted from the site for other purposes, but given I'm totally out in public anyway, I don't have a concern with that. I gather those who submit shots without heads are either overly worried about any exposure or simply fake. I probably should have made this a PM or in a more appropriate thread--so apologies to any offended -- ignore my rant and post away! :D
