Summer time...

Post by Mouse »

I am aware that this is an international site and while I may be in summer here in the UK, others in the south, are in the cold....

However, the summer time, gives anyone who wishes to wear a skirt to work, the perfect time to turn up in a utility kilt.

The work ware companies have you covered with a range of HiVis kilts, bright yellow or orange and we all know the range of standard kilts available for those office professions. Once you have the kilt wearing established, the move to skirts is a short hop.

I know we are all different and some members just want to wear skirts from time to time. But I know from experience the Monday blues of trouser wearing, when the whole weekend had been in a skirt. I also know the fun, on even a bad day at work, when things are not going well, looking down and realising that I am at work, in a skirt. For me, biting the bullet has been totally worth it, and I am so enjoying my working life in a skirt.

The road is scary and you need a bucket load of confidence with some "Just Do It" to quote Nike. But I think you will be surprised by the amount of support you get for being true and standing up to be counted.

Of course everybody's situation is different and there may be downsides in your line of work, as we have seen with the shorts thread. But life is short and here in the UK, the sun is out and even some women are out in skirts!

I remember seeing these when I lived in Sweden. Blåkläder means "blue clothes" and their stuff is sold in some national chains of DIY stores including Jula. I have some of their work trousers

This is just one of many. Google "high vis kilt" and you will be amazed at how many come back to you. Given that these workwear companies don't market things that don't sell, some guys must be buying them?

I saw over of those two weeks ago when driving on the ferry to Gotland, one of the loading crew was wearing it. She was a lady though.

I'm thinking of picking up the standard black "blåkläder" work kilt, for use at home when renovating. It's €150 though, which is why I'm hesitant.

If you do decide to purchase, I will be looking forward to a review in the Kilt section. :D

I will do that, I just ordered it, happened to find it 20% under MSRP on a sale on one of the local construction depots sites. This is the one on blåkläders webpage.
