Platform boots

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Platform boots

Post by petieken »

I've been wanting to get myself some platform boots for a while now. These Demonia (women's) boots came on my radar, and I like the look of all 3 of them.
I can't decide which ones I should get, because they all look good IMO. Which ones do you think would be the most versatile pair?

All three of the styles of boot have full zips on the inner sides of the leg.
So all reasonably easy to put on and take off again.

Personally though, I'm not a fan of any type of platform footwear. Each to their own, I guess.

Fair enough. I've always been intrigued by these platform boots. After seeing Mouse rocking some platform boots, I thought: why not?

I've always been a sneakers guy, and usually always owned a pair of Timberlands or so for the colder days.

If I had to choose, I'ld go with #100 because, IMHO, the first pair, #52,
could be bad for you, if you have weak ankles. The #72, IMHO, gives
a hard 'punk/goth' vibe. The #100 in more streamlined, with, IMHO,
better ankle support. They would go better with modern clothing instead
of just Goth/Punk style. They're more versatile than the other two choices.

Again, just my $.02 worth :D

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, the 72 gives off more punk/goth vibes. My ankles are pretty strong, I run and cycle, and do many leg &core exercises in between.

The shorter ones would be most versatile.

Those things look like they'd be quite heavy... Each to their own, but not my style.

"Each to their own, but not my style."

I'll be sticking with my Sketchers and/or leather flip-flops. Comfort and light weight rules (in my book) - that's why I wear my casual kilts almost exclusively.

I have a pair of these Camel-300 from Demonia which I love.

You can see me wearing them here http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtop ... 32#p269132

Out of the three proposed, I like Shaker-72: best. Shaker-100 is OK, but a bit plain, Shaker-52: is also OK, but I like the taller boot.

These boots are great fun and pretty easy to walk in. They are not desperately heavy, just look heavy because they are chunky.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

They are beautiful boots, but for my first pair I want something below the knee. Thanks for reassuring they are easy to walk in, they definitely look fun. I'm ready to try something that my former self would never have dared to do.

I think the 52s are going to get the most use, they can be paired up fairly readily with anything. The 72s are the best looking, but even with a zip and easy to get them on, I think you need to style your outfit more to the boots than the other way around.
