very short shorts

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

To get away from the baggy Army-issue khaki shorts worn by service personnel serving in hot countries, I remember shops in the '60s stocking very short shorts. Way before the advent of lycra and stretchy materials, normal 'kit' worn by competitive rowers was as illustrated here.

That pic was taken during the first big freeze-up in '62-3. Our Liffey river froze to an ice thickness of 5+ inches and the 20-yr.-old TJK was impervious to the cold.

Just unearthed this vintage Mega-DIY pic of Muggins with hair & a beard wearing the sort of shorts which were on sale for men everywhere then. A long time before I discovered skirt-wearing. That's a nail in my mouth, not a fag.

That's my last entry on this thread.

I thought that I posted this pic before but can't find it. Nowadays it is just mini skirts, which I believe offer greater modesty both front and rear.

These "Very Short Shorts" are what I remember as a child
and young adult. They were NORMAL at that time. The
"New" shorts are longer than Bermuda Shorts. Yuck :!:

Yes, I remember them too, and as the standard fare of the day we adapted to them the same way we did to pants. The younger chaps got the Bermuda stuff -- sometimes with the utility of larger pockets; but mostly enough fabric to drown a swimmer -- but, they were the 'accepted' item of their era and that is the rub: We all get caught in the perceived stream of acceptable conformity -- thus MIS are so rare. Maybe we should be hollering for the default men's wear of the early Christians -- and dress more like Christ-- to bring the Western world of men around! 8)
