If a skirt or dress doesn't have pockets, one can just tie them on.

I get what you're saying but I just don't see it being practical for me...one more thing to keep track of and not leave behind. I have a few skirts from this place, I'm tempted to try one of their wearable pocket rigs when I'm travelling: https://bandiwear.com/collections/large-pocket-belts

That's totally practical for when I'm working around the house, for sure. 8)

From the start, I just accepted that skirts don't have pockets. That's why women carry purses, right?

My solution is that I purchased an I-Pad carrier. I don't have an I-Pad, but the accessory works very well to serve all my carry needs: wallet, phone, keys, pen, small writing pad, coin purse, and a small paperback book (usually chess book) instead of the I Pad. I will include a picture at some point in the future.

Bottom line is that the absence of pockets on skirts never bothered me nor limited my selection.

Well now Hayseed, I know we've got to meet sometime. Anybody that carries a chess book.... My car is rarely without a set; my home, probably has more chess sets & chess books than skirts & those well exceeds the squares on a couple of boards! I'm not sure what this has to do with skirts; although it would take a large purse for most of my books -- from the era of descriptive notation before algebraic; but my cell sends lots of enticements. Not sure which I like better, chess or skirts -- with or without pockets! Have you tried any of the "pocket chess sets" in a genuine skirt pocket... :(
