I should be OK here in the UK, as we haven't dropped tariffs on China. Good or bad, you will get pictures.new2skirts wrote: ↑Thu Apr 10, 2025 6:36 pm Hopefully it ships before the crazy tariffs kick in... the second one looks lovely, it should arrive soon enough. Please post a pic when it does![]()

Both items look fantastic to me. If only I had youthful looks on my side and less of a belly…
I hope the items turn out okay for you mouse.

You looked fine the other night, remember I am virtually the same age as you and I also have a belly problem.
I am quite resolved that the website portraying a company in a Baltic country with Icelandic knitwear, is just a front for more Chinese stuff. It has, and will create some fun on the cafe, to see what turns up.

I have read the whole thread now and everyone is loving the dresses. Dubious about the photograpy, origin and very curious to see what arrives.
If the dress arrives and you are impressed with it, there might be a rush from the men in the forum to get theirs!
If the bottom drops out, it's not the end of the world and a big thank you for taking one for the team

I've had a few misfires with internet ordering. Usually sizing issues related to womens Vanity sizing issues.
One that sticks in my mind was 2 pairs of shoes I bought. They were both high heels and they fit well but the smell. I had to leave them on the back porch for a few of days to air out. Not sure if that small was, I'll guess the glue went bad, I cant believe they would have made shoes out of leather that smelled like that.

Well to no one's surprise, the dress which turned up was no where near what was described and shown in the picture. But I promised to show you what turned up so here we are on a bright Easter Sunday in a deserted Tesco's carpark trying to get a picture without too much shadow.

I got credit from Mrs Mouse, for stepping out the front door. Her words were, "I Love you, no one would be crazy enough to wear it outside..."

Fortunately for you all, Mouse is crazy enough to get pictures on one of the two days when Tesco's, is closed.

So as you can see this is not a Celtic Knot Knit dress. It is a long printed sweat shirt with an attached skirt.

To be fair the actual quality of the dress making is OK, but clearly not a patch on the picture we started with.

So Mouse has been duped as Stevie said by a picture of a girl in a pretty dress. I have found many sites all selling the same dresses, even sites in German. So this scam is big business and wide spread. Moving forward I am taking up a dispute with the billing company and will probably end up escalating it with Paypal. We will see how the story pans out in the future.
The crazy thing is, I still like the original image and dress portrayed.
The other silver lining, is that the pictures of Mouse can not be contrasted with the pictures of the original model, since we are wearing totally different dresses.

I let out a small gasp when I saw the dress mouse. It was always a case of Hope for the Best and Expect the Worst.
Its a clear cut case of misselling based on misleading advertising. If paypal is involved you have a good chance of getting your money back.

I've seen this happen several times, and what makes it worse is that returning it seldom goes well. I pretty much do a quick check of the reviews of any sellers of online merchandise, especially clothes that I want to buy. I have been warned off more than a few by reading consistently negative reviews. Many of which point to bait-and-switch tactics.

I'm sorry that a bate and switch was done. The original looked quite nice. Now that you've got it, and it may be crap, I hope you didn't pay alot. But other than that is it still wearable?

Pay peanuts, get crap.
Sorry it’s worked out badly. I refuse to buy from Shein, Temu etc. I’ll buy quality and have no regrets. The price race to the bottom is futile.

Too bad the dress isn’t what it was supposed to be on the original picture and it doesn’t look elegant and flowing like on the original picture.Mouse wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 1:06 pm Well to no one's surprise, the dress which turned up was no where near what was described and shown in the picture. As a challenge I’d be tempted to knit the dress to what it was supposed to look like.

I've been 'tempted' by Temu(for tools only) but refuse to shop Shein ever again.

Never heard of Temu or Shein, and, in the aftermath of what happened with Mouse, I will give both a wide berth. Fortunately, when it comes to clothing, I have plenty of brick and mortar options (Old Navy, JCPenney, Macy’s, Primark) to utilize, I’ve never bought clothing online as I prefer to size things up in real time before making purchases. I only use online retailers (DSW, Amazon) for shoes as it’s impossible to go into stores to find women’s footwear in size 13 since Payless went belly up several years ago.

I've been mostly satisfied with both. When I bought "thornproof" gloves from Temu and thorns went right through them, they sent a prompt refund without needing a return.
I got this skirt from Shein for about $2. Nothing luxurious, of course, but simple and comfortable. It's make of material like a bandana, so won't last too long, but people have complimented me on it.

We had a similar problem when my wife ordered what looked like a knitted jumper/sweater only to receive a similar printed sweatshirt. I disputed the transaction with the credit card company which resulted in being offered a full refund and asked to drop the dispute! We tried arguing with the supplier initially but were only offered discounts off more rubbish and then being asked to return the item at our expense to an address in China.
