The Try Guys wear dresses for week

Post by Barleymower »

The video below by the try guys is where they wear dresses for a week. It is unashamed self promotion by three guys looking to get as many views as possible.

I think though there are a couple of points in the video that I think are really relevant.... and it's a bit fun

Here's the link:
https://youtu.be/dWJdcKZvMJI?feature=shared

The two things in the video that are relevant to MiS
1. All three men were really taken by dresses at the end of the week. They were all surprised how comfortable they are and by they sound of it, it would not be the last time they wore a dress.
2. Two of the men wore really fluffy dresses, the type of dress a 4 year old girl would delight in.

Does that mean that anyones first steps into skirts and dresses first must clear the hurdle of the fluffy party dress? Come on you know you want to try it 😏.

Disclaimer: I skipped bit of the video but I do intend to watch all of it. Also I have seen any of their other videos.

Cute video :D
Granted, it is a year old but, the guys really liked their freedom gained
at the end of the week. The 'strangeness' on the first day, soon became
normal. Not sure where this was filmed at but, I agree, on a hot summer
day, you can't beat the cooling effect of a loose, and flowing, garment :D

An important point-wearing trousers for riding horses. In effect, men are supposed to be always ready to ride a horse.

But, as we know, you can drive a car just fine while wearing a skirt.

Great video. It might help some squeamish guys get over the hump.

I watched this show some time ago. My problem was/is that it is a show played for laughs. Which is obvious and expected since they are making entertainment for all. Where I am looking for more in depth piece of how a man can style and wear skirts and dresses as a serious alternative to the man box.

I know I am not the target audience but I don't want to laugh at men in dresses. I want to help a man in a dress look good as a man in a dress or skirt, to bring out his own style. Skirts for me are not a laugh, but a serious move to normalise men wearing a far greater range of clothes in a far greater range of colours.

Sorry to rain on any parade.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

I agree Mouse and said so in my original post (covered by saying it unashamed self promotion).I still think it is compeling viewing, considering what's out there. I get you point that it is a serious issue. It is a serious issue that is incredibly fun if you do it. If we are to be successful in changing the world we have a better chance it we do it with a happy face, and make it something other people will want to join in.

Firstly, I was very interested in their choices. I think that if you have been shackled to man box clothes and set free there is a tendency to head straight for what you have always dreamed of since being a child. You are essentially four years old again when you are told these beautiful things where not allowed for boys and suddenly they are.

I was interested in people's responses, which were more vocal than here in GB.

I was interested in girlfriends and mums reactions to partners and sons wearing a dress. One lady was very supportive and they wore similar outfits together, one guys mum didn't like anything he tried.

I was interested in the wearing of dresses from a gay man's perspective. He experience was the same as for a hetero man, maybe even more difficult?

Mostly I was interested in how they enjoyed the experience. By insisting men follow the serious Denzel Washington, Sean Connery manly, masculine persona, we are all missing out on such great life experiences.

I noted some time ago that the majority of YouTube videos concerning men wearing skirts or dresses view it as and present it as a joke. The following is the only long-form video I'm aware of by someone presenting wearing a dress 'seriously', as an aspect of how they normally live.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWFof7cgixM

There really needs to be videos offering practical advice like 'this is what types of skirts exist', 'this is how to style skirts by body type', etc. This may seem really basic, but most men do not know this, because skirts and dresses have been 'not for you', its actually also not a trivial subject because despite the fact that a skirt is a tube, there are many different kinds of them which have different pros and cons..

Also styling skirts by body type - there are a considerable number of such long-form videos targeting women, and the same content needs to be made targeting men.

kind of surprising how little there is of t\it on youtube, since I would think it would be easy clickbait material. There's a small handful of ordinary guys in skirts, but I haven't seen a follow up video from them, just standalones, unless you count finster. I've been subtly appearing in skirts for all of my recreation target shooting videos, but I've yet to draw attention to it directly. the best one on the subject I've seen yet was done by real men style, an that's rather an older video.

Sadly most of the time you see a Man in a Skirt they will be playing it off as something to laugh at or a pervert to be afraid of. Never will they present it as an alternative fashion for men.

Youtube is an open platform, and it would only take one or two people making a serious effort to change the state of things. Anyone could do this.
