A bargain (of sorts) - tennis skort
I purchased this skort in black for $35 a while back and I love it. Very comfortable and with usable pockets. Couple of inches above the top of my knees - a bit too short for someone who hasn't had years of practice in wearing such garments whilst keeping one's modesty intact (according to the wife - but I think I can just about get away with it).
It's got to the point where it is pretty much my go-to garment, which is problematic if you only have one of them!
Last night, after a most excellent meal cooked by the good lady 'er indoors (Tuscan chicken with gluten-free orzo), a (shared) bottle of white and a couple of IPA's, I suddenly remembered I was on a deadline for booking an item return so I dashed over to the Amazon site to sort that out. With that admin task out of the way, my attention turned (as is often the case with Amazon) to a bit of idle "window shopping" (is that still the right term if you are doing it on the Internet?). I happened to see that the aforementioned skort is being offered at a special price of $13.99 in several (but not all) colors.
I now have several skorts in a variety of colors on order. I just hope that they are all exactly the same size, fit and design as the original purchase. I have been caught out in the past on Amazon where styles / designs vary by the color that is picked.

FranTastic444, I am pleased you have found something that works for you, and at a good price. With attached shorts, I wonder how the bathroom visits work? Is a cubical required or can you use the urinals?
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

They come with a functional front zipper (I forgot to mention that) and the shorts inner starts just below the bottom of the zip. This would be my mode of operation if I ever had a need to use the facilities whilst out and about

Since skorts have interior shorts - the need for underwear/gear is optional - - -
The skorts with belt loops fly and frontal detailing are very limited compared to rest of the market.
Most skorts having lifted the outer skirt have enough fabric stretch to allow for pulling the leg hem aside and doing the business at hand.
In the worst case scenario it would be just like wearing shorts (or pants) nothing of terrible concern
As for FanTastic444 purchase good that he found something that works and I do like the wide hemline application.

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Nice looking and inexpensive find -- for those willing to endure the skort portion -- which I find more cumbersome and uncomfortable than traditional bifurcated inseams -- I've never really understood skorts for functional comfort.

No risk there with that length and full shorts underneath.FranTastic444 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2024 3:50 pm - a bit too short for someone who hasn't had years of practice in wearing such garments whilst keeping one's modesty intact (according to the wife - but I think I can just about get away with it).

Re: A bargain (of sorts) - tennis skort
I'm going to sound like a total fanboy here, but anyhows... I'm finding the skort portion of the garment really comfortable - either with underwear or without.
I ended up ordering in 7 colors (2 of each, as my wife decided that she liked the original black skort that I purchased). The darker colors worked great, but khaki and light gray not so much, so they were sent back.
The surprising thing was the difference in fit over the 7 colors. All exactly the same size according to the labels within (so not just a case of mislabeled packaging), yet three distinct fits. Some were just like the skort I purchased originally, some slightly baggier around the waste and maybe an inch longer in the length and some snug enough in the waist that I will have to lose a little weight before they will be fit for purpose. When I hold the garments up against each other, they don't seem to have huge variations in size, but it is enough to be noticeable when worn.

Having some different fits vs sizing makes me wonder if they were made in different places. I've seen that happen with some other clothing (same item) that I've ordered before where one package was made in Vietnam and the other in Mexico.

Yes, most likely. I will check later on when the wife is up and out of bed. The designs look identical, but maybe the patterns they are working off are sized slightly differently.

I have quite a few skorts. Having the shorts attached is not a problem for me, I would be waring shorts under a normal skirt anyway. Most skorts have pockets that are intended to hold a Key and some have a Tennis Ball Pocket. Ive used those with a key and wallet in the past so I didnt have to carry a bag.

Turns out that they are all made in China. But China is a very big place and I presume that this manufacturer has a number of different manufacturing centers (at least three based upon the distinct variations in size that I'm seeingFranTastic444 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 2:02 pm Yes, most likely. I wore the black skort in the week for my 6-mile walk / march (sub 90-minutes end to end, so a consistent 4mph+). The inners rode up and I was a bit worried about chafing of my inner thigh - but no problem. Off out for a walk shortly and I may well wear a pair of cycling shorts underneath to see how that goes.
