Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.

When asked 'Why the Kilt?'
I respond-The why is F.T.H.O.I. (For The H--- Of It)
A stunning example of the cake-maker's art, but despite the nautical theme, it departs from reality somewhat. It would indeed be a pity to sink a knife into it!
On my 21st birthday I won my very first Rowing trophy and my dear mother baked an amazing cake for me & my crew featuring a long boat with nine occupants including a cox. For 'oars' she used cocktail sticks. Needless to say, once attacked by hungry celebrants it didn't last long.
I subsequently married a first-class cake-maker, MOH, who over our now 55-year marriage has produced a great many cakes with a nautical theme. None quite so elaborate as the one above, of course.

"Look at Scottish guys wearing kilts - you could look at them and laugh, but the way they carry themselves, how can you? You can wear some of the weirdest things and be cool. If you believe in it, that's what makes it cool."
