These are a few of my favorite bags!
Hello everyone!
Call them, man bags, murse(tech!), ours, or bad there someplace to put something that we need! Some we like, some we hate, there are those that we thank set off the outfit and others we wouldn't be caught dead with. But if you carry one there's got to be a few that you think are great! So what's your favorite tell us about The bag.
I'll start it off. I'll leave my sporrans out of this since they are meant to complete the look of the kilt has a traditional ensemble. I have two that I really like that I picked up off of Amazon way back in 2008 they are called "man bags" by leather impressions and bought through Amazon prom belt outlet they are a seven pocket bag six a few discount the small cell phone pocket they are about memory serves me 6 x 8 x 4 8 inches tall 6 inches wide 4 inches deep. They are made of a good supple leather. There's quite a bit a room in these two to get everything that I need. By the way I forgot to mention I have one in brown and one in black . Before posting this I look to see if they were available and can't seem to find them on Amazon you may be able to come up with them by going to belt outlet directly. The other two I have are what Amazon calls a mini Messenger bag these two I have a brown and a new book black that when I just ordered these are smaller being about 2 inches deep again with two compartments 4 1/2 inches wide just did enough to accommodate a wallet and about 6 inches high they have a cell phone pocket on the front that will accommodate the iPhone 6 and probably the iPhone 7 they are a smaller purse of course then the leather impression man bag and do nicely for curing light stuff. All four of these bags can be either song over the shoulder are carried by a hand strap the mini messenger bag has an additional belt loop so it can be worn as a belt bag. The mini messenger bag also have a wrist strap which I have never used so cannot comment about its usefulness.
I also have two iPad bags which are approximately 10 x 11 and are made like a messenger bag with a large flap the clothes it's over they were canvas and they do nicely for larger things like books and of course the iPad or a tablet or note notebook.
What do I carry in these? Well on the man bag I use the cell phone pocket which is not large enough for my iPhone to hold my brill compass and a small comb the second pocket and carries my bus tickets and my keys in the other . And a larger pocket I put my wallet my iPhone I sorted sundries small stuff eyedrops lip balm pocket knife etc. and this time a year I'm stopping at a pair of knit gloves and your grips that's like your muffs but they go around the back your head in there too and since last September when I was diagnosed diabetic I'm now carrying a glucose monitor.
Well that's about it for me what about you what have you got where did you get it and how useful do you find it and can you get the kitchen sink in it! LOL!
Take care!
Bill
P. S. All of these bags were bought off of Amazon for under $30.

I have three. One is a custom-build by my ex who executed the thing in crocheted twine to measurements that would accommodate my wallet, "smart"-phone issued by my then-workplace, and my reading-glasses, without which the "smart"-phone would be rather useless. Another is a cast-off of hers that's a rather splendid sequinned number that can usually hold most of what I carry and which can function as either a cross-body bag or as a clutch. The other was a gift from another friend which can realistically carry only my wallet and my "modern" flip-'phone.wsherman wrote:Call them, man bags, murse(tech!), ours, or bad there someplace to put something that we need! All see use. The third one above is the one most commonly in play since it's "right-sized" for what I carry now; the first sees occasional use if I have extras in the mix, and the other sees use for more formal occasions. Each in its place and time.
For the most part, I try to have enough pockets handy to put everything in.

Re: These are a few of my favorite bags!
I have two, one black, one brown, both messenger bags the right size for carrying an iPad or other tablet.
I like the shoulder straps so I don't have to "use up" a hand carrying the bag.
All I keep in there are my wallet, my phone, a hanky, and my keys, and I take those out when I put the bag away. That's all I carry in trowser pockets, and all I'm accustomed to needing.
Both bags are plain and rectangular, which tends to distinguish them from women's purses.

My first bag got it at a thrift store only $10 . Just big enough for wallet phone and keys.

For years now I use a fanny pack. I don't care if it is silly or not, it is easy. Normally I have it in front of me but on the bike, I turn it to my back. I hate it to transfer the contents of my pockets when I change clothes so this is a good solution.

It's a shame you've cut your head off in this picture; I think this is your best coordinated look, so far. The colours, cut, and styles work very well together.oldsalt1 wrote:My first bag got it at a thrift store only $10 . Just big enough for wallet phone and keys.

Re: These are a few of my favorite bags!
I bought a Dakine bag recently from 6PM.com. It was an inexpensive bag to begin with but I used it all last week, every day, and liked it. It's a cross-body bag. I thought it was good for the money. They don't seem to have any more of the ones in the color/pattern I got, but I think most of the bags are suitable for male or female use, as far as color and pattern. Here is an example:

That's basically the style I like, although I prefer leather.

I guess I am a little concerned about showing the face in the general area as opposed to pics and looks.

Shoulder Bags:
I have a few bags, all are heavy nylon with velcro closers. My favorite style has three pouches on the side and can handle my keys, my credit card folder, and cell phone in their own compartments. They are camouflage and hold more than I would ever carry in pants pockets. Small flashlight, pocket knife, note pad, check book, wallet, sun glasses, hanky, and it can hold a bottle of water so I don't have to carry it in my hand. I am seeing more men with them. I have smaller ones if I want to travel light with less stuff.

Re: These are a few of my favorite bags!
Good grief, if I were to get that descriptive of my bags my post would be even longer than usual.
When I was getting started down this path I thought fanny packs would be ideal. I already had some, they're unisex and they're practical. But I began with dresses and quickly realized that fanny packs break the line of the dress, defeat the purpose of wearing a dress -- dispensing with a tight waistband and belt -- and just simply don't look right. At least not to me.
So the quick view of my collection is:
- my first ones, by MultiSack. They're compact, lots of pockets carry a lot more than you'd think. Utilitarian, inexpensive at Fred Meyers, but not very attractive. The black one has an adjustable strap so it goes over the shoulder or cross body. The brown has a wrist strap, which works ok. Once you get used to the idea of it dangling, you have 2 free hands. The downside is that it flops around so the hand attached to the wrist it's hanging from isn't entirely free.
- Liz Claiborne, bright blue, square and thin. On the rack at Penney's it was irresistible. Once I fill it up, it looks pretty lumpy. Damn! The color REALLY makes a statement.
- black tote with (semi) matching handbag. The tote came with a one-pocket black wristbag. It looked and worked more like a make-up bag, but the tote is big enough to work like a briefcase, so I found a wristbag at Ross Dress for Less that was big enough to hold what I usually carry (about what fills my pants and shirt pockets) and came close enough to matching (they're different brands) that I figure they'd pass for a set.
- I love my bright red Koltov. Another Fred Meyers find. You can't go wrong with red. Lots of very functional pockets. Lots of capacity in the main pocket.
- my most versatile purse has a really deep, good sized main pocket and the usual complement of other pockets. It looks smart enough and has a brown, fake leather band similar to what you see on knee-high jockey boots. So it can go with brown or black shoes, can go from casual to business wear and will hold handouts from a meeting or lots of sales receipts.
I'm still looking for just the thing to go with my special occasion dresses and evening gown.
For all of my nonchalance, my tongue still gets stuck when I have to say, "my purse."
Otherwise, in for a penny, in for a pound.

I also just call it my bag. I had a fanny pack but did not like it very much. So I went out and bought a bag that I can carry cross body or use as a hand bag. It is a black nylon about 9 inches wide and 8 inches tall, about 2 inches thick. it is made by Travelon and I paid $49.95 for it. I wear it as a cross body bag and keep wallet, check book and keys as well as pen and paper for taking notes etc. It is RFID resistant meaning it will protect your credit cards from ID theft. It has several hooks and snaps for hooking things to it like a small LED flashlight that was included. It uses zippers for closures and has one with a magnetic flap as well as a zipper that is where I keep my wallet.

Re: These are a few of my favorite bags!
My partner Heather (now passed away) used to personify things with names, hence; Percy for her purse and Wally for my wallet. I still use both, Percy for coins instead of ending up on the car seat. Neither fit in my pocket, nor phone, so I carry a small back pack that is usually slung over one shoulder - and hasn't got a name.Caultron wrote:Me too. Re: These are a few of my favorite bags!
I carry a bland REI black shoulder bag as well as a black Sherpani crossbody messenger bag, both marketed as women's purses. Bags aimed at men tend to be on the large side and I prefer carrying something smaller.
