Ah, our "misspent youths" -- it's good memories, though.

The magic of the "short skater skirts" is that despite first appearances, it's all quite modest indeed; that's not flesh, everybody's well covered up so as to not get cold. So it's all left up to the imagination -- and that makes it all the better (at least for this bloke, then and now). Jeans leave me cold 100% of the time.
Half a century later I've got my own skater skirt which is just right for a hot summer's afternoon in the garden :D
I'm contemplating acquiring one before I lose the physique to carry it off well. The trick is actually sourcing one large enough; they only seem to go up to size 10 or so and I'm a 14 ("so fat as to be unbecoming in one", or so the retailers would think?).

Here's what I wore on an outing yesterday as I broke in a cute pair of booties I bought from Payless the day before.

Spent the last 4 days camping at Rainbow beach, about 2 hours north of Brisbane, two days of cloudless blue sky and time to relax, spent 3 days kicking around in a sarong and T shirt, 4 families in the group and a good time had by all. No comments or problems from anyone, except two comments from my friends 8 year old daughter, but nothing more than "you're wearing that skirt again", but she's a dag and will tease anyone with anything.
On the return trip we stopped at a fish and chips shop, and dined in, stop at the servo, not even a second glance from any of the other people in the fish and chips shop or anywhere.

My wife said that I can take my "pleated skirt" (utility kilt) when we go to the US in a month's time.

It's good to have a supportive partner.

"Servo?" That's got to be an Australianism.

Feel free to bring no trousers or shorts at all!

I'm sure no one will say anything, but if they do, just tell them Caultron says it's OK.

Nice outfit. On my blog " my many minis" in pics and looks we are having a discussion about bags because skirts have no pockets. What type of bag do you have in the picture.

In my mind the term "Servo" means the control mechanism
for R/C(Radio Control) model airplanes, boats and cars. :D

The term "servo" is an Australian slang word for Service station, gas station etc.
Australian English must be some of the most slang English out there, but then every culture/country has their unique slang language, just like the buskers our there stand on street corners playing their instruments...

I went into downtown Philly, bought a magazine from Barnes & Noble, walked down to the Apple Store where I hung out for fifteen to twenty minutes, then had lunch in the food court of a center city skyscraper. And no one raised so much as an eyebrow at my appearance.

OK, that makes sense.

Ah, but look at what it has gifted general English with -- such gems as "arse antlers" and "muffin top" are simply too good to be true. My thanks for those most certainly go out to those "down under".

Beg your pardon?
Those phrases have not reached EFL text books yet!

That's because they remain in the general classification of "slang"; however that does not diminish their evocative power or their usefulness.
