What Should Have Been The History Of Skirt Wearing 101
I don't know exactly when the darn pants were designed and started to be worn and as Clark Gable said in "Gone with the Wind" - "Frankly xxx I don't give a damn" !
Not withstanding the paintings portraits and crude illustrations of man wearing pants or short capri type pantaloons engaging in everyday work and women wearing
their unbifurcated dresses and wrap garments the wearing of clothes is a mixed bag of contention !
If one believes in the bible as the authentic history of mankind - God gave the boot to Adam & Eve from the Garden of Eden where no clothing was necessary.
So on the outside of the Garden the circumstances were very hostile requiring a covering of the body to ward off the slings and pains of outrageous fortune.
Not that global warming was a real factor back then and man had no need to go to the poles to find out. Living a few kilometers from the equator was still no
walk in the park. Fig leafs worked for awhile but a robe or wrapping garment of sorts was the utilitarian covering that was the mainstay for a number of centuries.
For the most part until man needed the comfort of something suitable to ride a beast of burden or offer some degree of comfort sitting on a cold slab of granite
a robe worked fine.
For foot soldiers the long skirt or tunic type garment was practical making ease of movement in battle.
Garments were made of woven fibers; animal hides and who knows what else could be scavenged from the garden; jungle or animal.
Tarzan could have been quite the fashion role model in his abbreviated leather bikini loin clothing.
Now who designed the first pair of pants; capri short pants or shorter pantaloons well there was no patent office back then so we really don't know.
What happened is that man screwed up twice once fooling around in the garden and then in making pants. He should have stopped at the long skirt tunic when
he was ahead. As for riding horses well throw a blanket on for a saddle and live it.
Well man ventured forth in quest of who knows what and as he went along clothing of all types was introduced refined and made horrors - "Fashionable" !
Man did not know how to approach this - a simple skirt would have sufficed but then woman beat him to it introducing the ankle length skirt and then raising
hell by raising the hem to well in some forums you can't go there. Man should have laid claim to this new fashion sense but all he could muster was a tartan robe
with pleats and parade around the Scottish countryside.
So man has started the long road out of Tipperary or was that Timbuktu to reclaim what was the universal garment worn by all men - the unbifurcated what-cha-ma-call-it !
No one or animal was hurt in this radical discloser - blame kissing the blarney stone while intoxicated or something on that order !

Nice reading, RM, but only last weekend I had occasion to visit Tipperary County and Town and nary an unbifurcated male did I meet. They must all have taken that aforementioned long road out! Tipperary is a big County and one must traverse through it to get anywhere South West from here....like Cork or Limerick.
On this Island of Saints & Scholars (Rogues & Robbers, more like!) you're either in a pipe band, an Irish dancing troupe or off to a fancy dress party if you sally forth unbifurcated as a male of the Species, alas.

As I said to MOH t'other day - "If there are 999,999 men wearing trousers and me wearing a skirt then that makes me one in a million. You should count your fortunes!" She was neither amused or not, I don't know. I know neither whether she was impressed with my logic! 
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

As a result of the Newspaper article I was contacted by a gentleman who would like me to make him one of The Dinkum Aussie Wrap and later The Original Freeman skirt for men. He is not previously a skirt wearer but sees the practicality of them in our climate. I am currently talking to manufacturers to see if I can get my designs produced and on the market.
