Not sure quite what you mean when you say that today was a 'bad day' (because) you immitated a 'Hoover vacuum cleaner', Uncle Al. How does one do that?

For me good days are when I work well, exercise well and eat well, which is usual. Bad days are when something goes wrong, e.g. about 6 weeks ago on a cold morning on my way to work my trusty old Mercwaggon shut down due to electrical failure and I had to walk to our local garage a mile distant as I had no cellphone with me. They telephoned my Office and my colleague whisked me in to attack my booked-in victims.

After 17 years the original Bosch alternater had turned up its toes and a replacement was found & screwed in in a few hours, so by midday I was mobile again, but EUR 450-odd was an expense I could have done without just coming up to Christmas. I mention that as it is the one & only time in my 14 year ownership that my 'old girl' stopped on the road.

So what happened ?
Did you forget to drain the swamp trying to catch the gators ?
Oh that's right you don't have swamp land in Texas and therefore you don't have gators !
My grandmother used to remind me that there would be days like that !
But then she did not have an electric device to clean the floors and carpet.
Well hope a bit of humor doesn't stir the dust up too much or was it something blowing in the wind ?

"Skirt-Kirt-ON"
rma
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Tom,

I didn't imitate a Hoover, the "day" was like a Hoover.
No matter what, something went wrong. Murphy's Law :?:

Mother-in-law fell twice, wet the bed and threw up dinner
and medications. Most of the time she wasn't here, but
somewhere else - mentally. She was asking when mother
and daddy were coming. They've been dead almost 20 years.
'Mom' is 80. She also asks when Wil (her husband) will be
getting home. He died on September 19th, at 81years and 6 days.

That's why it was "Murphy's Law" day, imitating a Hoover.
It sucked, royally :!:

Al, I am so sorry to hear of what's going on. It doth suck indeed. Big rocks through small straws.

Persevere; this, too, will pass.

I'm sorry, Uncle Al. My mother got Alzheimers pretty bad in the end, and by her 80th birthday she couldn't register anything like that, also knew very few of us and she staggered on till she was 82 before her strong body shut down systems.
Mentally she was away with the fairies for at least 2 years prior to that. As she was diabetic and couldn't remember her necessary injections we had to commit her to a home out of her very large house, which she couldn't manage at all. We lived nearest and my MM's offer to look after her was rejected by my other siblings, all of whom lived in the UK at that time, hence family friction. It's a very ugly illness and in our case split the family down the middle.

Why, oh why, does Alzheimers have to strike so many of us so cruelly, So often, doubly cruelly, it's the intellectually gifted that gets that rogue protein raging through the brain. I just hope there's a medical breakthrough soon. My Mother died at 85 with advanced Alzheimers, though it was pneumonia that took her in the end. My father soldiered on, for another six years, till 91, but the spark had gone and, I think he just lost the will to live. My heart goes out to you AL, and all others who see a loved one vanishing slowly before their eyes.
