Warm for winter in continental U.S. & Europe

Post by Sarongman »

I've been surfing the web for warm, lined skirts after having bought an Eddie Bauer flannel lined denim and found this. Far too much for our mild winters here but, for some of you folks over on the other side of this terraqueous sphere!

I wouldn't be running for a bus in that one, for sure. Give me a pleated A-line & thick tights any day. It looks a bit Goth, anyway.

Me too. It is all I need for the Northern European winter.

Maybe not what most of us on here need, but you'd have to agree their skirts are designed for some seriously cold weather!
some are knee length too (and even insulated mini ones!)

Yes, I agree. The short versions may not be that bad, after all.

When did you last run for a bus in anything? :D

One merit of designs like this is for people who need to sit for long periods in cold places. Watching sports in winter for instance. In those circumstances the ability to turn a long skirt into a warm, toasty sleeping bag seems rather attractive.

Have fun,

He doesn't, he just drives around in his Merc! Which probably has heated seats so the last thing he would want is a super-insulated skirt.
Keep on skirting,

I like the look of them, a bit dear, and a bit restricting, but I like that! In foul, dreech (don't know how to spell that Scottish word, but it means wet and probably cold) crappy weather, I fancy having a skirt that keeps me warm and dryish, even if it restricts the stride a bit. I could live with that, just to be comfortable. I will probably order either one of those, or the rainskirt ( http://www.rainskirts.com/products/rainskirts ) to make the most of the wonderful Scottish climate!

B&B
The word is spelt dreich, up here and you got it perfectly right, damn cold, damn wet, not freezing but totally penetrating.
In "dreich" weather proper tweed skirts or kilts are called for and, unless masochisic tendencies are your thing, stout leg and footwear are the order of the day.

My 12 yard kilt is heavy enough dry! It would weigh a ton once wet and I am not getting a £300 piece of wool wet if I can help it! Oh, thanks for the spelling lesson, I needed that!
Tomorrow, Ullapool for a few days and a lot of guitars. The weathers forecast to be typical for this year, could do with one of those skirts now!

12 yards?
I'd be happy with half that, but at only £300; it's a bargain!
