None of them are at all practical and the third, IMHO, is just hilarious I still find that the designers are catering more towards a transgendered look and that far more 'masculine' skirts can easily be found in the womens' racks in the stores.

Every single model was wearing some form of trouser garment. No mention of skirts there, just "long airy trains" and "draped robes".

The fashion movers and shakers should study Skirtcafé, read OUR views, see what WE (actual skirt wearers!) like and don't like, and then try to put their own take on men"s skirts.

I think this applies to the women's and men's things you see on most of the catwalks.

My daughter-in-law starts her first job next Monday as a clothing designer for a manufacturer and her interest is menswear. She has already had some of her student designs used by a couple of High Street stores, although we are talking about socks and sports shirts. She is starting at the very bottom of the industry and will initially be earning less than a supermarket assistant/clerk. Whether she will get any scope for being adventurous in years to come remains to be seen, but I guess she will be powerfully limited by commercial considerations.

The catwalk fashions we see are not intended to be serviceable clothing worn by ordinary men in the street. Often, the designer sees their collections as little works of art rather than utilitarian items to be marketed, so it's not wise to take too much notice of what we see being displayed by gaunt models striding along the catwalks of Paris, London, New York and Milan. On a positive note, though, they do contribute to the chipping away of the universal and rarely questioned "men can not wear unbifurcated garments" maxim, and we should welcome that.

I would hope that at some point a ready to wear line would offer skirts for men.
Until that time I hope the designers keep sending male models down the runway wearing skirts.
