Awesome young kiwi street performer
I was wandering home, & heard a Jimi Hendrix solo growling away from across the street. Naturally, I looked... & there was KJ.
A young guy with his guitar & an amp (iPod connected for backing), just going for it on the streets of Auckland. Playing flawlessly.
No really. The kid wasn't missing a thing. Extraordinary skill.
I don't tend to carry cash, but I *always* have my camera on me (Canon 7D if interested)... So I hoped I could help him out in another way...
One take. Not cuts. No special equipement. Shot, handheld, by a photographer who only just learned the video settings on his 7D.
No external mic either... this is how the camera captured it. Imagine being there.
I hope he's back next time I'm walking down Queen Street. You should look out for him too... and give what you can to support KJ's incredible talent.

Do you wear your skirt in to town?
I always do, but have never seen another skirted male in the city.
Here I am at the Auckland Town Hall.

Great bit of 'phone filming, and What a performer!. The guy can't be more than 18 yrs. old and already totally involved and fluent on his chosen instrument. He just has to be destined to make serious money in this age of throngs going to that sort of concert.
Perhaps he would command more attention if he ditched his miltary short-back-and-sides, grew his hair out and donned a SKIRT!.....but I suppose his mum wouldn't approve.

Yes, it was refreshing to hear that very young guy doing such impeccable Hendrex. Truly the '60s will never die. A golden age of popular music.
Also in queen St. last week was a bloke with a dancing puppet skeleton to Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog"!

There certainly is endless entertainment in Queen St. I should go in more often with more coins! This bloke also plays really good guitar, and there's even a bunch of "hillbillies" play excellent jug band music!

Re: Awesome young kiwi street performer
Thanks for opening up this topic. I live a short bus ride away in a western suburb.
My friend Adam, who lives in the city says that on the opened up waterfront area there is an upright piano on wheels that anyone can play!
Looks like, with the summer coming up there will be ample music out and about. I will certainly be making special trips and getting a lot of coins changed.
