Women have the pants/skirt problem also.

General discussion of skirt and kilt-based fashion for men, and stuff that goes with skirts and kilts.

I have to wonder if Amber Clisura is actually a "Skirtonian."

Around Surbiton last weekend I was surprised at how many women were wearing long summery skirts and dresses. I saw quite a lot of women in long flowy skirts cycling as well.
Even though I was skirted I stil felt jealous, in the hot weather they looked so much more comfortable. I couldn't figure out how they kept the skirts out of the cycle chains, but it didn't seem to be a problem.

You see, B&B, Surbiton is in the South where they occasionally get some hot weather. Many women now seem to consider skirts as fair-weather clothing only. Case in point, a fellow commuter and I were having a bit of a moan about the weather, and she said she couldn't wait for some nice weather so she could wear a skirt. So a skirt makes a wee change for the ladies, and when the sun shines brightly they like to break out the light and summery ones. Makes perfect sense to me.

Up here, if it wasn't for opaque tights, you would hardly ever see a woman in a skirt.
Keep on skirting,

France is still further south, but many girls refuse to wear skirts. It's not just a matter of climate. Could be fashion; could be macho harassment.
Most of France can get really hot (yes, even hotter than Suburbiton), but there are more jeans than skirts on the streets.
Before Skirtyscot tells you it's always cold and rainy in Grenoble, that is true only 2/3 of the year and when Scots come on holiday.

I'm back home now, don't think I saw a skirt today, oh and yes, it has been raining.

I hope not, I hate denim. The way it feels, the way it doesn't drape, etc. :P
Well now. There is DENIM, and there is denim. It is all in the weight of the material. My favorite skirts, of which I have more than a dozen, are identical denim numbers. The material weight is about 9 oz/yd. (--maybe a little less--). It is soft, drapes beautifully, and swirls like you would not believe. It's the same with wool tartan. A 20+ oz regimental rig is not even comparable to a 11 oz dancers weight kilt. Look around a little. I'll bet you just haven't found that right denim skirt yet.

I will concede that I haven't experience denim in all of its forms, just as male jeans. Still, I don't think I will give up my cotton twill or silk skirts.
