Idea for a sticky Topic.

Post by SkirtRevolution »

I have an idea for a sticky Topic and thought I would throw it out there and see what people thought.

My idea is to have a thread where we can all post links to articles about men’s skirts, so that we can all reply to them. If more of us reply to these articles that are being written every week for men’s skirts then we can have an opportunity to promote men in skirts. We often say that we have said it all on this site, therefore maybe it would be good if we start sharing it to the public. I know many here already do this but if we make it a more coordinated effort then more of us will be able to reply and promote our cause.

Isn't there a sticky topic in this forum called "Men in skirts links"? Also, wouldn't "In the news / advocacy" also cover this?

It's entirely possible you had something else in mind, in which case, forgive me.

THe 'Men in skirts' sticky is for shopping links, more than news etc

I think linked articles do tend to get split between this section and and the News/advocacy section though - may be photo based ones can stay here and pure text can go into News?

I am writing in the capacity of Barista here.

From experience, posting links to things is a quick way to have one's own site "go bad" by virtue of busted links and out-of-date information. This can be especially knotty with links into media outlets which tend to either time their links out or require subscriptions to view items older than "n" weeks.

Maintaining link-lists, unless they themselves auto-delete after a while, is a lot of work. Take a look at the men's clothiers site-list we try to maintain and see how many of them have gone dead.

I might be tempted for the news-related one to make a "sticky", but I'd want to have a "sunset date" after which posts "expire" on their own and I'm not sure if the board's software handles that gracefully.

And in a personal capacity here.

I've had this happen on my own personal web-site as well, and it's no fun fielding questions about context that you'd hoped a link could -- and did -- fill in but which has gone away. So, I am quite naturally a bit gun-shy on this idea.
