First harvest!

For anybody who has been watching the weather in the northeast USA it's common knowledge that we're running about 20 degrees above normal at the moment. This has paid off in record levels of mold spores and pollen in the atmosphere making life miserable for many. It's also awoken many slumbering species from their winter sleep early. Trees are already in flower, and bats again grace the night sky.

Tonight Sapphire reaped the first harvest from our garden -- chives -- which are in the dinner salad.

The bad bit is that in two days' time we're going to be back at average which will mean a killing frost come Monday.

Hi Carl
We are having the same barmy weather here in UK. Supposed to be hotter than the Sahara by one degree over this weekend sometime. The animal and plant world don't know what is happening---could be spring, winter or summer- all in a few days. They are waking up when they should still be asleep, because of the heat, then sleeping a bit and never waking up again because of a heavy frost has killed them off.
I blame the Russians.
